Pick 12 discussion.

Hopefully Melbourne take Freeman and the Lions take McCartney.
that should leave us our choice of Lennon and one of either Bontempelli, Scharenberg or Salem.

i would class Murphy, O'Keefe and Johnson as different types of players. all very good players, but all different.
As a half forward O'Keefe played like a CHF. his main game was as a leading player. as a mid O'Keefe is solid at everything. he is perhaps a 'vanilla' footballer, but a very good one.
Johnson plays forward like a goal sneak. as a late career reincarnation as a mid he has become an accumulator but still very flashy.
Murphy plays forward as a mix between the two. he has never really made the move to play midfield.

Who would you think Lennon is most like?

can anyone answer the query on which type of HFF Lennon is most like?

Lennon looks very very good so noone should be disappointed if we land him.

He does look good on field, some have concerns over his aerobic and athletic capacity however. He's tested very poorly (as in bottom 10% in some categories) for two years running now. Strange because he doesn't look like he lacks athleticism when playing. Perhaps he's been playing possum to get himself to the Tigers ;)

I wasn't a big fan a few weeks back but have since come around on him a bit. Very strong hands and a clever, composed type. Would slot in nicely

Freeman has a huge ceiling, his combination of pace and endurance is a tantalising prospect. But he's also a major gamble, clubs who are seriously considering his recruitment will be banking on his disposal and decision making to improve and will be hoping that he develops a bit more consistency. If all the cards fall his way and he lands at a decent club, there's every chance he could become a genuine A grader. I'm not sure if I'd be willing to take the plunge if Lennon, Scharenberg & Taylor were on the board but if he does become a Tiger, I'm sure he would bring a brand of football which would be exciting to watch. He's the closest thing to a human cannonball that I've seen in quite some time.

He reminds me of Chris Masten (without the excessive cartoons); busy but no match-winner.
But perhaps I'm being greedy given it is pick 12.
Much rather Lennon or Scharenburg.

His video from the carnival reminds me of two of our players
He moves to and with the ball like Cotchin - he marks and kicks like Deledio

Very similar kicking action, possibly the closest I've seen to Lids' style actually

I'm interested in what people think in regards to the type of player we want, need and may possibly target.

We always talk about names and best talent but Francis has proven he'll overlook the next best available talent to get the type he wants.

Are we ready for an outside player?

Do we need an inside wrecking ball to replace Tuck and help ease Cotchins workload

Does someone with more of utility type game suit.

Yeah don't really want Freeman, more hype than substance at this stage. Could be a very good player eventually but his kicking is meh and decision making a bit iffy. Better prospects around IMO... I'm on the Acres wagon

I can't find any video but all descriptions are glowing in praise

Yeah, everyone's a superstar this time of year though. He's a good prospect but has more to improve on than some others around our pick in order to become a good player at AFL level

I think tigs pointed out the worrying thing with him is that he just hasn't had a big impact at TAC level, in a weak year for the competition, despite already having a well developed tank and good speed to go with it. His numbers aren't all that impressive which makes me question whether he's got a good natural sense for the game. Someone like Lennon on the other hand put up some very good numbers consistently, despite having relatively poor endurance

Acres is the one I was though. I really hope we take a punt on him

Has he really?

You could make a case in hindsight that FJ over the last 3 drafts has taken as near as realistically possible the best player available in the first round. Ellis was the best available, Flossy may prove to be and Conca was pretty close.

Ah, but not the best available according to BF Phantom Drafts, that's what counts this time of the year.

FJ was ridiculed for the Conca pick

In hindsight it was the Polec pick that was the terrible one of that draft.

Reckon there's a pretty strong chance we'll reach for Zak Jones

Well he's saucy and a good kid, attributes richmond like.

No way if Lennon is on the board. Personally I think we should be grabbing a mid or utility, Jones is in the 20-30 bracket, a huge reach at 12.

What do you read into Lennon's poor testing, anything?
