Would be madness. Lennon is more Bob Murphy/Ryan O'Keffe/Steve J half forward. If he ends up 75% as good as any of those three and we have a winner.
And those three you mention are the exact types we are screaming out for.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

lennon vs sharenberg? i like lennon better but im still advocating taylor as i think he will be a little champ and boy do we need a nipper with explosive pace around the ball.

he is certainly a type we could do with.

i would class Murphy, O'Keefe and Johnson as different types of players. all very good players, but all different.
As a half forward O'Keefe played like a CHF. his main game was as a leading player. as a mid O'Keefe is solid at everything. he is perhaps a 'vanilla' footballer, but a very good one.
Johnson plays forward like a goal sneak. as a late career reincarnation as a mid he has become an accumulator but still very flashy.
Murphy plays forward as a mix between the two. he has never really made the move to play midfield.

Who would you think Lennon is most like?

Re: Looks like Pick 10

My tip for this years late rise up the draft order is Zach Merrett. I've got my fingers crossed he gets to 12 8-

Any reason(s) for that mate?

No just a hunch.

He is a little taller than Hartung & Taylor, has more penertration in his kicking, is arguably a better decision maker, similar pace and lateral movement and their is no knock on his character that I have heard. Until this year his focus was on cricket and hence scope for improvement slightly higher also.

I see him as the next best small mid after Billings this year and that puts him in the mid 1st Rd mix.

Agree, Merrett is a better prospect than the other 2 highly rated ones. Good call MM

Do you rate Merrett's inside game ahead of Taylor?

Merrett looks good but does he win enough of his own ball?

Nope, he's as outside as they come, hence the reason he's a second rounder. His kicking and decision making is top notch, it just becomes a question of honing his contested ball winning ability, but this also implies a degree of risk.

Don't agree with the knock on his inside game. Whilst he is not a Shane Tuck lead with his head type midfielder he spends significant time in the centre sq and gets his fair share of clearances.....he is no short stepper ala Grigg. Not dissimilar in terms of style to a Matty Knights, he is adequate inside and will dominate off the left when given some time and space on the outside. He will be the type of player that teams have to tag after 2 or 3 years in the system

Disagree, he struggles to get involved if he doesn't have any first class extractors around him, he's a lovely link-up player though and should go top 30. As far as being better than Taylor & Hartung, I'll have to disagree on that count. Taylor is strong both inside & out whilst Hartung has the athletic attributes which will make him very hard to stop. Merrett is a good player but I wouldn't be classing him as a potential top 10 pick.

Acres is the one. The chosen one. He's perfect for us. I hope he's available and FJ agrees

I want em all Stylo.

Why the hell didn't the club trade McGuane for pick 2 - Nahas for pick 6 - White for pick 7 - Lonergan for pick 11.

Useless Tiges!

;D

Taylor is better at winning his own ball but I don't think he's that great at it. And I rate Merrett higher on the outside. He also has a stronger defensive game. I have Merrett at 36 in my rankings though at the moment.

What are peoples thoughts of Luke Dunstan?

He has all the attributes FJ looks at with his first round draft picks. However I am not sold on his kicking. Its Brett Kirk like.

I think his kicking is fine tbh from what i've seen. I have him easily in my top 10. He's just not a flashy type so doesn't stand out. Just a good footballer. Same goes Sheed.

I gather you don't rate Taylor then, to have him ranked outside the top 40 is a big call, he's one player who will be ready to go in 2013.

Maybe a tad bit harsh but he's certainly not poetry in motion. He's also very one-sided, which may cause problems in the long run. I think his range will be 15-20, a perfect fit for St Kilda on the rebuild.
