He's not a possession junkie like Crouch but his hurt factor is in the elite category, he rarely wastes a disposal. He averaged 24 touches at TAC level but also hit the scoreboard and won a couple of matches off his own boot. He's the go to guy when the heat his on, he just has that extra polish that you know will translate well to AFL.

Crouch tested in the bottom 25% for all the running tests which places him at the bottom of the tree as far as midfielders are concerned. Sheed incidentally ran a 3 sec flat 20metres, there's a big difference between 3 seconds & 3.25. Crouch's stats at TAC level are mighty impressive but there are others such as Taylor who have averaged 30 touches or more but have more tricks up the sleeve. Taylor was actually nominated as the TAC player of the year, and has been ranked 6th by Champion Data. Crouch doesn't even feature in the top 10. Like I said, Crouch will probably have a good career but there are others who are more befitting of a first rounder IMO.

It's a really good debate. I think Salem has everything I like in a footballer. My concern is the manchild tag and the scope fro improvement. I really like the fact that Crouch is a clearance machine and tackles. We don't bring enough heat to the contest. Besides Chimp, we don't have enough. And I don't way to use Trent Cotchin as your lead battering ram. He'll end up like Luke Ball.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Funny. Melbourne supporting mate told me he would be happy to draft whoever the Tigers were into, as the D's recruiting had proved so woefully inadequate, while in the corresponding period the Tigers had nailed everyone of their 1st picks. Even happy to take as an endorsement, the fact we were chasing Dom Tyson.

Salem only started playing footy when he was 14 so you'd think there's a fair bit of natural improvement left in him.

Not sold on Crouch personally. Seems a very messy footballer. Frenetic. Reminds me of Sam Lonergan. His kicking isn't quite that bad but it's not near as good as Conca's IMO Scoop

I share your thoughts to a T there mate, I personally dont rate Crouch that highly and is the player that i expect to drop out of the 1st round

On Salem , There is just something about the kid that screams out Joey Montagna to me - Does anybody els see this in him ?

Have heard this as well.

And Lennon will be taken at pick 10.

Acres could be the man.

If that happens & it well may Crouch has to be the pick.

Interesting part about that is it means a scenario where we land Scharenberg is conceivable. If Brisbane take McCarthy early, which is a small possibility, Dees Salem, Pies Lennon, Eagles Sheed... Welcome Berger

Is he type of player we need?

A tall classy utility with midfield potential? Absolutely. Every club could use him. Goddard 2.0

He'd be best available by some distance. Would be a steal of Grundy proportions IMO

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Scharenberg ---------- Wow

Would be an amazing get for the tigers but really cant see him sliding past Bulldogs,Brisbane,Collingwood TBH

McIntosh & Scharenberg on opposite HBF's The height,Skill & Poise of the backline will be amazing to see both players with great disposal and 190+ cm as the 4th 5th Defenders

Re: Looks like Pick 10

What are peoples thoughts on Darcy Lang. Was playing really well before he broke his leg. Could be a steal if he fell to our pick 50.

Any love for Billy Hartung?

16.3 beep, great pace. Looks a possible Brett Harvey in the making.

Prefer him over Lewis TBH.

Imagine him bursting down the wing in front of 80K fans at the G. The tiger army would erupt. We don't have enough players who take the game on and run at the opposition. Hartung has a great combination of endurance and pace. his kicking at full pace looks elite also. Averages 25 in the TAC cup and was all australian U18. Could do worse than him at 12.

I like him too, maybe not as high as 12 but there's heaps to work with.

Agree. If I had another pick inside 20 I would take him. Reckon St Kilda take him and he gets the Aussie Jones comparison.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Having come to terms with the fact that we likely won't get a shot at Salem my current wishlist is

12 - Scharenberg > Acres > Dunstan > Taylor

50/68 - Any combination of Wilson, Robertson, Bourke, Karpany, Holman, Hewett or Lang. I think we're pretty good for KPP but if we're going down that path then Giles would be excellent at 50 (unlikely) otherwise I don't really rate the tall talent at the tail end. J Tippet of J Kolodjashnij may be worth a look with 68 but IMO that would be based more on pedigree than output

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Warming to Scharenberg.

There may be some surprises pulled in this draft and certain players could slide.

We could do with a Goddard type.

Never say never but I doubt he'd get past Collingwood.
