Pick 12 discussion.

I personally see that we severely lack that dangerous half forward. I think we can look at one of the available state leaguers such as Chris Cain with our last pick.
If he's not on our radar then I'd like to know why, ready to go & good on both sides by foot. I'd even consider our second pick to secure him.

I think we'd have to grab him with our second pick, he already has plenty of suitors sniffing around.

Yes, it's a fair point, I certainly wouldn't be upset with Lennon in Richmond colours, everything he does is usually a class above. As far as midfielders are concerned, a combination of Chris Cain & Kane Lambert would be just what the doctored ordered, and would allow for a guy like Lennon to fulfill the HFF role. It would probably be the death knell for Brett O'Hanlon but there's nothing wrong with upgrading the list where possible.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Salem, Lennon, Taylor...good chance at least 2 of these 3 will be available at our pick 12.

Shame we missed the boat on Adams but nevertheless we will still get a very good player with our first pick.

Probably a good thing that Scharenberg, Bontempelli have been talked up to hopefully allow others to slide somewhat.

If Aish slides past 5 he will probably be the best value pick this draft.

Boyd the obvious lock at #1, but have said before that Billings is the one for me this draft if there was a Grundyesque slider .- shame he will go early.

I'm torn... Dead heat between Acres and Salem for me at the minute

Gus, you a fan of Lennon?

He's a good footballer but I would I'd have a few ahead of him. Can he transition into someone who can take a turn in the midfield is the hard one to answer.
Marking and kicking are his real strengths plus he can kick goals.

Latest from AFL.com is Salem, Acres, Lennon & Freeman are likely targets. I must admit Acres shoulders worry me, I just hope he regains full mobility because the last thing you want is to subtract contested marking from the arsenal of a 190cm midfielder. But he does look good, a classy link-up player with elite athletic abilities and a player who is adept either side of his body. The tricky issue here is to what extent do we factor in the prospect of re-injury, and what sort of discomfort he'll endure if he continues to pop his shoulders.

Champion Data's Top-10 2013 Draft Prospects

1 - Tom Boyd
2 - Josh Kelly
3 - Matt Scharenberg
4 - Dom Sheed
5 - Jack Billings
6 - Lewis Taylor
7 - Luke McDonald
8 - James Aish
9 - Kade Kolodjashnij
10 - Ben Lennon

It's interesting to see Aish so low, I think this is largely due to his lack of contested possession. He registered a lowly 26% at the Champs, a figure which should raise some alarm bells with recruiters. This figure also happens to be very similar to Andrew Gaff's output, a player who has incidentally gone missing for 12 months. Other high draft picks who have fallen in this range have been Jimmy Toumpas, Cale Morton & Kane Lucas. Based on this, it's not surprising to see him drift down the order.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Judd and Selwood had question marks over their shoulders during their drafting didn't they ?

Judd still has to be carefully managed, his shoulders have been popping out his whole career and must cause some level of discomfort, Hartlett is the same, Varcoe probably a worst case scenario. Some players simply have loose ligaments and are prone to dislocation, Griffiths is another who was destined for the knife.

As for Selwood, he had a serious knee injury with some recruiters suggesting he would struggle to eke out 6 years of competitive football. That obviously turned out to be a shocking diagnosis.

Still think I would take Crouch ahead of Salem.

Crouch is going to drop to Geelong.

I'm with you pooper scooper. From the limited vision I'm a fan. Crouch knows how to find the footy - you can't teach that. He's got some Sam Mitchells about him with his quick decision making in tight. we need more elite extractors - besides cotch the cupboards pretty empty.

I'd even go Taylor ahead of Salem. Taylor provides zip and smarts around the packs as well as accumulating possessions. seems to be inside and outside. height shouldn't be a factor.

Sheed, Crouch or Taylor at 12.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Crouch won't go top 20.

He'll slide ala Mitch Grigg. Grigg went from possible top 5-10 pick only to fall to pick 44. Crouch and Grigg seem pretty similar players to me, except Grigg is a better kick.

I can understand why you might be tempted but to me Salem has a bit more polish with his skills and is clearly the better athlete. Crouch can get the ball and has good skills but are you wanting him because he compliments the side better or do you think he is the better footballer?

Maybe we get crouch at 50 lol. I reckon Taylor is the goods but his height will remove him from our calculations :(

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Che need a goal kicking mid, so out of the top 12 who fits the bill?? Lennon?

Lennon is more a flanker at this stage, albeit a very good one, could see running through the midfield eventually but may take a while

Salem is a versatile mid, doesn't mind a sausage

Taylor is also dangerous around goals

Freeman has been known to dob the odd bomb from outside 50 as well

And Grigg looks like making that look foolish. Ran third in the Margery and played the last five with the Crows and averaged 16 touches, 3.5 tackles and a goal. Will be a player. And Crouch is better. Much better.

Bit of both. Salem is a better finisher, I concede that. But we are desperate for inside help and toughness. Crouch has that. I think he is a carbon copy of Toby Greene. I think long term Crouch has the better career.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Would be happy with Lennon, Salem or Taylor if any are available at our pick.
