Salem has gone to the top of my rankings, next is Taylor, then Freeman, followed by Lennon. With regards to Lennon, it would seem that he still has some way to go before getting his fitness levels up to meet the criteria of an onballer, I think it's critical we get a guy who can jump into the middle from the get-go.

My predicted top 12 is -

1. Boyd
2. Kelly
3. Billings
4. Scharenberg
5. Kolodjasnij
6. Aish
7. Bontempelli
8. McDonald
9. Freeman
10. Salem
11. Sheed
12. Taylor

I've got Lennon being the big slider now, we may pick him up but then again, if Richardson has come out and stated we'll take a midfielder then that would rule out Lennon. I realise Hardwick & Frank have an aversion to midgets but there's still a place for them if they're good enough, Taylor is clearly the best credentialled midfielder at this point.

The highlighted part in your post is the reason why we wont touch Taylor.

If Lennon is on the board at 12 I dont think FJ could read his name out quick enough.

As long as we realise midfield duties are some way off, I like Lennon as has been stated previously, but there's plenty of work to do with his speed, agility and endurance. As a HFF, he'd be rolled gold, but do we want to spend pick 12 on a flanker?

As for overlooking Taylor, I concur, a shame really because other clubs have been highly successful in developing the sub 178cm players. Collingwood for instance have Blair, Kennedy, Elliott, Thomas & Dwyer, all whom would be a welcome addition at Punt Road.

I wonder what Flea Weightman would say about the present paradigm.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

A classy medium forward who can go into the midfield would be very welcome if Lennon slips to 12.

As for midgets, we were after Adams, who's what - 179? so I wouldn't rule out Taylor. Prefer him to Crouch.

I think we'd be looking at an 80-20% split between HFF & midfield. What concerns me most with Lennon is that he appears to have very poor agility, no acceleration and a very limited tank. His skills are undoubted, and he'll obviously be a very dangerous forward proposition with his excellent kicking & marking, but if it's a bona fide mid we're after then Lennon isn't the best option.

Sounds like Danny Meyer

Much better than Meyer but he'd be no lay-down misere for midfield duties, this concerns me if we're talking using such a high pick.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Agree. I remember how much it concerned us last time we used pick 12 on a Half Forward Flanker who we thought could make it in the midfield. Didnt work out to well that time.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

I'd be stoked if we get Taylor more so than Salem and Lennon.

Just think Taylor will be a beauty!

A real get up goer who will bring alot of great energy to the club off the field and on it!

he ticks just about every box blx - speed, agility, dual-sided, leadership qualities, a quality breeding ground (I respect the Falcons more than most), goal sense, x-factor and an insatiable appetite for the contest. The only reason he isn't being talked up as a top 5 pick is because he's 174cm, something which doesn't really bother me.

agree, looks very very impressive. the way he moves actually reminds me of sam mitchell (ie the way he kicks both sides and his side step out of trouble). except he also has speed to burn to get out of the pack unlike mitchell.

If Salem is gone we must give serious thought to Taylor (even if both are available it will be a very tough choice between the two, i'm actually leaning more towards Taylor atm); can't believe that lack of love for him. He is a beauty. People are overrating the height factor. He is strong over the ball, kicks on both sides well, has a great burst of speed, very evasive, has good vision & decision making & can kick goals. Saw an interview with him on TAC cup future stars too a month or so ago, seemed very driven yet humble. He is exactly what we need and would make our midfield that much more dangerous/dynamic. We don't need another plodder, one trick pony, safe bet type. Taylor at 12 to us would be a great result. Get it done FJ.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Would compliment our team as we dont have his type and he is as good as any in this draft!

I worry about Salem. Just doesn't do anything for me. Great kick and strong tackler BUT doesn't get the ball much...

Height doesnt matter when your Lewis Taylor! Strong player in the Falcons too. Captain of Vic Country...rah rah rah...you know it makes sense!

He averaged 24 disposals, 5 marks, 4 inside 50′s, 3 clearances, 5 tackles and 2 goals per game at TAC level. He also starred for the AIS international team and shone like a beacon at the combine.

I would be stoked with either Taylor or Salem, both are guns and clearly worthy of pick 12.

Our first pick is probably a reach for him, but gee I'd love to see us grab Nick Robertson from West Perth. Absolute running machine.

I see he's shot up to 191cm, could be in contention for pick 50 given he's missed so much football. How do you rate his kicking? I just had a quick peak at his footage and he doesn't appear to be particularly fluent and doesn't seem to get much elevation. Is it an area that you think could be remedied?
