He is a super athlete, he really doesn't possess any weaknesses, his testing at the combine may have been down but prior to that he had blitzed in just about every category. If his shoulders are fine then he could be a steal, good luck to the lad.
I still have that suspicion that Acres is well and truly in FJ's mind if Salem and Lennon is gone.

Top 3 for our pick in order

Lennon
Salem
Acres

Re: Looks like Pick 10

BTW all the draft prospects including profile and video are now on the AFL website.

No Freeman? Some have suggested he's our third preference but difficult to say, what makes you think Acres is in the frame?

Freeman will be gone by pick 10 to Collingwood. But I don't rate him ahead of the others. Decision making looks to be a worry in that he just gets boot to ball rather than sizing up better options.

Its just my gut feel regarding Acres. Looking at some of his footage, he reminds me a fair bit of Deledio. Forget about his record this year at the champs because of his injury. FJ and his team would be analysing what he has done over a 2 - 3 year period. From all reports he was touted a top 10 prospect at the start of the year. His year has been Vlaustin like.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Not knowing much about any of them, I will have to trust the clubs choice.

And trust them I can because unlike previous years, where it seemed we made selections based on media hype & reading fan forums or you tube videos, we actually have a professional recruiting dept who are targetting young men who just fit! Skilled, tough & of good character (Dusty was the standout talent in his draft).
I'm sure we'll get it right again.

I like taylor but hartung looks good as well. Taylor more skillful but hartung better defensively. Freeman looks a lot like shuey to me

Hartung has actually struggled against the taggers, it's the one big knock on him, mind you he did a stellar job on Aish in a tagging role. But make no mistake, Hartung has a bag of tricks up his sleeves, so much so, he'll be a prime candidate for some heavy attention. I think he'll make it given he's so incredibly fit, he would walk into a club like Richmond and give Brandon Ellis a run for his money.

Selling Ellis well short Bully with that comment.

Hartung doesn't have the size it strength of Ellis. No way Hartung comes into AFL in 2014 and exceeds Ellis output.

I'm talking aerobic capacity Scoop, and I certainly agree that his build maybe an area for concern. It's difficult to say whether repeated knocks will hamper his running capacity, personally I'd be taking a go slow approach until he's put on substantial weight. That could mean no senior football for 12 months.

Collingwood keen on Scharenberg at pick 6.
They should get him there too. Aish is going to go almighty close to our pick. Probably goes pick 10 to the Pies. If not he's probably ours.

If he slides to us and we pick him, he's a dud and we didn't do the research other teams did.

If we let him go past our pick then we've screwed up again.

Have heard that Billings will go to the Dogs if available, that means Scharenberg may slide if not picked up by GWS or St Kilda. However I wouldn't discount either of those possibilities.

I also had him mid-teens before the draft camp, that was before I realised he'd shot up to 193cm. He now projects as a potential key position player with extreme mobility, as opposed to a tall outside midfielder or a rebounding back flanker. He has all the key attributes to succeed in the role - speed, endurance, leap, contested marking ability and elite kicking. He'll never be a power forward but I could see him as a Scott Lucas type who is capable of playing at either end of the ground. He has become a true utility in every sense of the word.

His speed results at the combine were actually disappointing and he was in the bottom 20% for the 5, 10 and 20 mtr tests. His endurance tests were quite good. He was also above average with his jumping but not near elite.

Michael Aish, father, or is he an uncle always looked VFL standard by some margin, back in the day, and was heavily chased and signed but never came across from SA. Bad history for the Tiges. I'd hold a grudge and strike a line through the Aish name, homesickness could emerge and off home he goes. Is he worth the risk. Is he related.

Surely he wont slide to us.

He has gone from a sure top 3 pick to sliding out of the top 10. Who's cat has he killed?

I think Michael is an uncle. He was seen as an absolute gun footballer over in SA. He also played alright for SA in interstate games. I must admit though I am not overjoyed at the Aish name. Pretty sure that Michael took our cash for a while on a form 4 & then never crossed over while leading us on. 2 sides to every story though I suppose too.
