Happy with Salem if he slides to us. We should get a good player regardless.

Lions would do well to nab Hartung at 20.

Why do GC have Sydneys pick 14, have i missed something or is it a typo?

Think it is taking into account the Dale Thomas compo pick to Collingwood which they are likely to offload to WC bumping everyone else's later picks down by 1.

Sorry meant Ports

Port trading their first pick as part of the Polec trade.

Could be, but then Brisbane would have to trade it to GC or as part of a three way trade

Also thought that Adelaide would use the pick from the Vince trade to get Polec

The proposed 3 way trade is something like 13 to GCS, 23 and Polec to Port and 18 to Brisbane.

Polec worth 3 x times more than what Vince is IMO.

Brisbane's pick 20 (that they would get as part of the Polec trade to Port, involving GC as a 3rd party) will be a better pick than what the Crows will get for Vince.

I'm certainly loving West Coast for loving Sheed, it almost guarantees we'll get Salem.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

Are we deadset no chance for Bonters?

Can Salem be Wayne Schwass? Is he good in the air? Schwass was a borderline champion and a genius in the air, like the best wingers. I'd be happy with Wayne Schwass.

We need a leftie in the midfield. (Grigg has two left feet. One of them is adequate when he's forced onto it and the other he doesn't use.)

I think we're out of the running for Bontempelli, the latest he'll go is pick 11.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

There was an article on the AFL website that GWS were angling for pick 2 to possibly take Bontempelli as they were looking at him at pick 9, but there was talk that the Pies were keen on him and that was the reason they were willing to send 11 & 27 to WC for their pick 6.

Whether it's true or not it great to see clubs trying to scuttle any of the Pies plans ;D

Whats your thoughts on Blake Acres?

If Salem and Lennon are gone at our pick I think he could be a smokey for us at pick 12. His year was ruined by injury so didnt get to show his true potential. Not too dissimilar to Vlastuin last year.

He's an athletic beast, he's fast, fit and possesses excellent agility. I certainly wouldn't be judging him by his deeds in the u/18 champs considering he was playing hurt, if anything he gains extra brownie points for playing through the pain barrier. His footballing ability also marks him as a very likely type, I'm not so sure he'll be a gun midfielder but then again, I haven't seen him in that role at peak fitness. I think he's very likely to start his career in the backline and push-up to a wing in a predominantly outside role. His lack of an inside game probably rules him out of contention for our first rounder, and despite his carnival heroics, his shoulders look to be a huge concern. Judging by Cayden Williams' persistent niggles, and even an elite talent like Hamish Hartlett, it almost seems like an injury for life. For a pick outside the top 20, Acres is a risk worth taking, I just think at pick 12, we shouldn't be messing with our tried and trusted formula for first rounders.

If both Salem and Lennon are off the board, I'm still of the opinion we should grab Lewis Taylor, he's a perfect replacement for Foley and appears to be a very safe bet as far as a long career is concerned.

Re: Looks like Pick 10

If Sheed, Lennon & Freeman are gone I would take Crouch ahead of Taylor.

We're pretty much on the same lines Scoop, I rate Crouch highly, but have Taylor marginally ahead given his better all-round skill-set. If we had kept our second rounder, I think we'd be in the market for a similar type in Tsitas, who I also rank as an excellent inside extractor, perhaps not in Crouch's league, but a player who represents the better value. My philosophy with these types is that they can always be found in the second and third round. Think Luke Parker, Daniel Hannebury, Andrew Swallow, Dane Beams & Jack Steven. All these players were marked down for kicking question marks, and rightly or wrongly, were overlooked as a result. Taylor's qualities are a little harder to come by, in fact if he was 180cm, he'd be talked up in the same terms as Kelly & Aish. That's not to diminish his benefits as a highly skilled rover, but is more a statement of his game-breaking qualities. We need a little bit of the x-factor and Taylor brings that to the table, it's about time we invested in some razzle dazzle.

He's a terrific player. I have him around the pick 10 mark

The risk with high inside ball winners in the first round is very low. Toby Greene, Oliver Wines & Matt Crouch this year.

Crouch is everything we lack. Fierce tackler, clearance machine and smart with the ball. It's Luke Ball all over again.
