Pick 12 discussion.

Happy to ignore the interest that North and Essendon have in Ellis? Let's not forget DeGoey wasn't considered a top 10 pick until Collingwood got pick 5 in the Beams deal.
Yeah pick 16 and 19. Read my post I said top 15. At 19 I think he's a great pick. At 12 there seems to be much better avail.
Just watched another clip of Ellis from the other site and again for an inside mid his highlights showed him attend 2 stoppages. Most of the clip, like his afl site clip, was of him roaming half back and kicking with his nice left foot.
In two highlights packages it has shown him in a pure mid situation twice???? Pure classy inside mid I can't see it????

If he's so talked up about by previous coaches people who know etc, then why is no other team with atop 15 pick talking him up. Rfc are making him out to be a standout mid better than laverde Duggan weller etc yet every other club see it the opposite way. Are we too smart and way ahead of the rest? Or do we have our blinkers on and are just fixated on this bloke. He doesn't even fit our pressing needs of speed or X factor??
So which is it?
Surely 17 other teams recruiters can't be wrong can they??

Has anyone heard this from the RFC "officially"? Or is it just some phantom draft expert has said it's set in stone?
Where have all other 17 club's recruiters come and said they won't select him? Bit of difference when a few clubs will be having multiple picks before us. This may affect who will slide ie we've said we want to bolster our midfield but if Lever or Wright were available this might change. Whoever we pick, we just have to have some faith that kid will be a good fit and have some ability.

Are you only going on video footage or have you actually seen him play? Going by video footage isn't the be all and end all. Too many want the best kid in the draft, whereas recruiters will be picking the kid who becomes a good AFL player. Big difference. Best kid in the draft doesn't automatically translate to a good AFL player.

Now I wouldn't take De Goey at 12 don't see what all the love is.

Sam Landsberger and Jay Clark are now the exception with their phantom draft. They have us selecting Duggan.

12. RICHMOND

Liam Duggan (Western Jets)

H: 183cm W: 75kg

Midfielder

The Tigers are blessed for choice with the outside midfield options available, but Duggan looks the safest bet. The smooth-moving left-footer boasts supreme ball use and would complement Brett Deledio and Brandon Ellis.

The twist: Tigers have been long-time fans of Corey Ellis, who has a stronger inside game.

Go and check other clubs fan sites.

There are plenty of " I have it on good authority " posts there as well

Not really the same as every media draft expert predicting with some confidence who our pick will be

I think its time to stop guessing, stop worrying and just wait til tonight. The amount of phantom drafts and postulating seems to have reached an all time high this year.

I think the issue is, ever since Conca, the media have known who RFC is going to pick weeks out from the draft. They got Conca, Ellis, Vlaustin and Lennon right in their phantom drafts. That to me says we don't a) keep it in house very well or b) are predictable in who we're likely to draft and they coincidentally just picked what everyone thought they would.

We're dying for some hard running pace in our midfield. We got opened up by several teams who had it (Port and Hawks the obvious example), and the finalists all had multiple options with pace. The club said they knew what they had to fix - and seeing the guys working on speed and agility stuff in preseason is a good start, but it doesn't hurt to get someone who does it naturally. Yet, the pick everyone says we're going to be taking is one of the slowest by foot in this years draft pool. I hope all the P.Drafts are wrong, cause it doesn't sell me on fixing our needs.

Again, why can't we address that with the 7 other juniors we'll be bringing in?

Who would you prefer out of the two?
Tough one. Probably depends what we take first. Grab Ellis then Menadue or grab a Weller, Laverde, Ahern and then Blakely.

Just going off the H/S article that says they'll take Miller if he's there. (Goes the pick before them in their phantom.)

Not bothered if the draft speculators are right n we get either Ellis or Duggan with our first pick. Both appear to be rock solid quality young players and people who fit our needs, we're picking from outside the top ten so not actually in the hunt for the so called best player in the comp.
As for X factor, I thought that was some sort of crap reality t.v. show where they pretend to unearth the next global superstar of pop culture irrelevance.
Don't get me started on players with flares, dodgy fashion trousers worn by kids a looooong time ago, or was it flair the abbreviation for Flamin Mug Lair.

Based on highlights packages only...Ellis looks good to me! What a smooth mover and classy conveyance. Looks like an exquisite kick, love the action.

Not much to go on but Laverdes kicking action worries me.

Duggan yes, Weller yes.

Later on, Dan Howe yes please!! Robust version of Mackie or maybe a future Mundy type.

I think Howe will at the minimum be a gun vfl player. My query is what sets him apart from the pack? What is his elite attribute?

Did I hear somewhere (can't remember where) that we are looking at Panos as a late pick ? Maybe it came to me in a dream seeing though Ive been thinking of this draft so much.
