Pick 12 discussion.

and you know this how?
The media would know a fair bit about who clubs are looking at. They have far better sources and contacts than most of us. Yet not many ( is there any) media source that has linked Ellis as a possible pick for a team with pick 15 down. Don't think so.
He's not even mentioned as a possible selection if a clubs preferred player/s are gone. That's what I'm going on. It's closer than wat most of us hear and think incl me.

I think the issue is, ever since Conca, the media have known who RFC is going to pick weeks out from the draft. They got Conca, Ellis, Vlaustin and Lennon right in their phantom drafts. That to me says we don't a) keep it in house very well or b) are predictable in who we're likely to draft and they coincidentally just picked what everyone thought they would.

We're dying for some hard running pace in our midfield. We got opened up by several teams who had it (Port and Hawks the obvious example), and the finalists all had multiple options with pace. The club said they knew what they had to fix - and seeing the guys working on speed and agility stuff in preseason is a good start, but it doesn't hurt to get someone who does it naturally. Yet, the pick everyone says we're going to be taking is one of the slowest by foot in this years draft pool. I hope all the P.Drafts are wrong, cause it doesn't sell me on fixing our needs.

I'm not disagreeing, it could turn out to be Ellis. But I'd rather wait to see who we actually select. Secondly, the need for speed could very well be addressed with our later picks.
Nobody predicted Miles coming on so well. Obviously all the media, phantom draft experts and other club recruiters missed that one as well. Would you say Miles is quick or does he fill the need for an inside mid thus freeing up the likes of Martin and Cotchin a bit? If Ellis is selected maybe they see him as the best available. They have the data and have seen him in the flesh multiple times. I guess we put our trust in the recruiters, (plural, not just FJ)
I'll point out once again, speed and best "junior" doesn't necessarily translate to a successful transition in the big league.

FJ has a very good first round record. He and the club have earned the benefit of the doubt with our first pick

If we pick Ellis, I will applaud the club for taking a risk :clap

Its not a risk picking Ellis its our usual safe plodder pick

At pick 12 we have the opportunity to grab the best available and address a need.
A need for pace, skill, together with run and carry, take the game on and with a bit of X factor.
Why is it when we get beaten by sides that have a Wingard, Ballantyne, Walters, Rioli, Hill ...etc... our coaching staff just sit at their press conference dreaming what if..
Well now is our chance at 12 to show that we have learnt something by not drafting Ellis but going for best available that has pace.
Enough of the plodders if we dont address our pace problem soon we will be lucky to win a final.

On the flip-side, Ellis hasn't received an invite to the Gold Coast. Why that isn't factored into the experts phantoms is a bit of a mystery to me ?

Who do you fancy that fits the bill and will be available?

Weller ::) do we really need a poser, model type? that photo in the hs makes me want to :vomit :vomit

Check out the discrepancy is his upper leg muscles.

Must have had a thigh or possibly quad issues in the past.

Anybody listening to SEN this morning? I thought I heard KB talking about us being keen on Lever, but I only caught the end of the conversation.

Invites are for players that are a chance at top 10. Highest pick that Ellis has been linked to is 12.

Tough one. Probably depends what we take first. Grab Ellis then Menadue or grab a Weller, Laverde, Ahern and then Blakely.

Whats wrong with both Laverde/Weller and Menadue?

Heeney is invited, I thought they wanted to cover the first round ...

You're contradicting yourself. Best available or needs, two separate things.

He was also talking down Petracca in the hope he slides to 12

You'll have two players who aren't great at winning their own ball yet. Can see that being an issue for the club.

If we got a Bampton/Gore at 52 it'd be fine though.

Heeney must be an exception. If they wanted to cover the first round they'd need to invite more then 16 players or whatever it was.

Probably to publicise homegrown NSW players and the Swans academy a bit.
