Pick 12 discussion.

On the flip-side, Ellis hasn't received an invite to the Gold Coast. Why that isn't factored into the experts phantoms is a bit of a mystery to me ?

because the clubs with the top 10 picks nominate players they are interested in. seeing that he's not there suggests none of the top 10 clubs have him as there preferred or even fall back option.

You'll have two players who aren't great at winning their own ball yet. Can see that being an issue for the club.

If we got a Bampton/Gore at 52 it'd be fine though.

Weller is fine at winning his own ball, his contested possession ratio is comfortably above the 30% mark. As a comparison, Aish was running at 27% last year, he has slotted into AFL beautifully. Compared to Ellis he has produced very similar numbers at state level, he also has an excellent upside due to his light frame. Whoever picks him up will be getting a very well-rounded footballer.

the query with Wheller is whether he can put the weight on that is required .

He may end up being lighter than Shane Edwards

Can't see it being a problem, he's roughly the same weight as Aish was last year. Weller is ultra professional, he will do whatever it takes to be competitive.

Bully, regarding Ellis disposal efficiency at the National Champs, read this on the Hun website:

"The quiet achiever made five appearances in the AFL Under-18 National Championships but a strained muscle in his knee scuppered his progress later in the tournament."

Is is possible that this had an effect on his DE? His first 2 games averaged 19 disposals, 5.5 tackles, 4.5 inside 50s and a disposal efficiency of 84.5%. His last two games had averages of 12.5 disposals, 2.5 tackles, 2.5 clangers, two inside 50′s and 48% disposal efficiency.

DUGGAN lived through a football tragedy in 2011 when his under-16 teammate at Bacchus Marsh, Nathan Prince, collapsed on the field and went into cardiac arrest.
Prince died 11 days later.
Five days after his funeral Duggan kicked two goals as Bacchus Marsh overcame a previously undefeated North Ballarat side to win a premiership they dedicated to Prince.
AFL legend Doug Hawkins, who coached the side and rated the win as the proudest moment of his football career, said he watched Duggan come of age during the troubled time.
“His finals performances against all odds with young Nathan lying in hospital … I watched that kid grow,” Hawkins told the Herald Sun.
Duggan is expected to go inside the top 20, with Richmond eyeing him at pick 12.

He looks a great kid. Sensible in a Cotchin sorta way.

I still cling to the hope he is our man.

Bang, this is what I've been saying.

Geez reading this thread I kinda hope we don't take Ellis he will pretty much be the whipping boy from the moment his name is called.

His TAC form was also very patchy, this being prior to his injury. There maybe some credence to the injury effect but I still prefer others, particularly ones with pace.

Can't see this being an issue - if you know his old man - he was a monster when playing footy. Definitely looks like his dad.

Marchbank apparently a bolter for one of GWS's picks, which would mean one of Laverde/Duggan vould very conceivably be available.

The media would know a fair bit about who clubs are looking at. They have far better sources and contacts than most of us. Yet not many ( is there any) media source that has linked Ellis as a possible pick for a team with pick 15 down. Don't think so.
He's not even mentioned as a possible selection if a clubs preferred player/s are gone. That's what I'm going on. It's closer than wat most of us hear and think incl me.

The HUN has us picking Duggan in their final draft.

I don't know enough to feel the need to feel any way about who we pick, except excited about their future, but in a way I hope we don't pick Ellis. This is purely so we can put thumbs to noses, wiggle fingers, and poke our tongues out at the pundits who had him as a lock for us.

Why the discussion of weight issue? He's shorter than Ellis and the same weight. Shorter than DUggan, just a kilo lighter. So similar to the other 2 players were supposedly considering.

I'll be happy with whoever the club chooses but if we choose Ellis I hope the doubters give him a fair chance.

Just come home from Bunnings in watergardens, There was a van with 'Ellis Plumbing services" Sign on it and it had 2 Richmond flags hanging of each of the front windows and a brand new Tiger sticker on the back - Is this a Sign from above ;)
