Harry said:Ellis doesn't appear to be a contested inside mid. His highlights show him being a sweeping back flanker.
Ellis, Lennon, Vlaustin, B.Ellis. There's a theme. Trying to make one paced flankers into mids.
Us novices can only go off what the highlights show but the experts watch hours of footage. Looking at his stats, he has no issue getting contested possessions, if anything he needs to get out on the outside more and get the easy ball.Harry said:I don't mind his highlights but think his type is not what we need.
Stylo said:You're saying that based on a 3 minute highlights package, where all the draft watchers/recruiters/journos call him a pure midfielder.
His highlights showed me a kid who moves in a very similar fashion to Heppell.Harry said:I said based on his highlights. If he was a contested inside mid you'd think there would be footage of it.
Smoking Aces said:Whilst I understand people talking up the need for pace we are still reliant upon a few too many when it comes to winning the contested ball. We just lost Jackson who was arguably one of our best.
The loss against Port was purely due to our inability to get first use. The likes of Wines, Ebert, Boak etc smashed us. It wasnt their pace that did the job but their ability to beat us on the inside.
Yeah but they r called highlights for a reason. They r supposed to show a players best plays, their strengths, their abilities etc. don't see much of this in Ellis highlights. They seem more average-lights to me and many others.Brodders17 said:its amazing how many are bagging our possible because they dont like his highlights. im guessing/hoping our recruiters are going off a bit more.
In other words we were comprehensively beaten all over the ground. ;DMr Magic said:Can't agree with that Smoking. We lost for the following reasons
1. Our defensive setup with extra numbers back was a massive error and wasn't retified quickly enough
2. When they got the ball they ran around us or through us or over us. Pace, skills and will to win were far superior
3. We could have won every centre clearance and we still would have lost given our setup
I would prefer any of the following or any combination of the followingSmoking Aces said:Would many view our draft differently if we ended up with a Ellis/Menadue combo?
