Ellis has skill, ball winning ability and composure in traffic.
Great - so like Vlass, Conca, Miles and Foley - If we get Ellis they can form a boy band and call it One Dimension...

Strangely I haven't heard anyone from the club say once that they're picking Ellis.
Didnt you know that Paige Cordoma and Callum Twomey are really FJ and Blair Hartley in disguise!

Hes a plodder we have enough of them we need pace and X factor.

Why can't we get that later in the draft?

Ellis gets the ball and dishes it off first opportunity, doesnt take the game on with run and carry also his disposal efficiency is lower than 50%.

He dishes it off quickly because he's a good decision maker. You'll notice that he's frequently putting it to team mates' advantage often very quickly. His disposal efficiency was affected this year partly by injury and partly due to playing more inside. His DE in 2013 was ~75%

Hardwick gets all excited when he talks about Wingard. Well heres our chance to take a player in the draft (Weller, Laverde, Ahern, Cockatoo, Garlett...) and we settle for Ellis who at best is a second rounder :brickwall

Second rounder at best, rubbish. It's not often players with his combination of skill and inside capability come along. I agree we should take Weller first but Ellis is certainly not the spuddish second rounder you're making out.

So you think we don't need any more class on the inside?

Sure i do, but.. and it is a big but. We lack a speed and hurt player like Paddy Dangerfield, Cyril Rioli, Lewis Jetta... Weller or Cockatoo just make a big difference.

We can get inside with Nathan drummond in the second round.

Yeah something like that, or he was laughing at them taking a basketball player so early. All the while he went cold on Mitch Clark at pick 8 because of some YouTube highlights of JON.

There was more to not selecting Mitch Clark than that. Rubbish post. They elected to by-pass him due to the testing we had those shortlisted put through, where he appeared to be a big FIGJAM-ish. They rated Dowler and Ryder as better talents.

The concern with Ellis, is that if you read all of the profiles about him via AFL, Herald Sun etc, they all say he is slow on his feet but not with his disposal and that he has shown limited scope for improvement. Like Vlaustin, I think what we see is all we're going to get. Which isn't to say he's a dud, but I want to get a lot of improvement out of my first round pick, not minimal.

Fair enough, I didn't realise.

For those concerned about Ellis I found this clip this morning. This would have been from his underage year (2013) as he has a different jumper number and is a pretty impressive highlights package. A bit easier to see why he got the rolls royce nickname now.

He does not look slow and has that little burst similar to Cotch when trying to stick a tackle. Still he does have a running style a little like Conca :-X

I guess the real concern with drafting him is why did he not improve in 2014 on his very impressive 2013 season? Was it injury, confidence or is his development scope just not that high?

lets not forget that guys like selwood, voss, risiuto, didn't have great highlight packages, if you looked at highlight packages only, then a matty white would be picked over these guys.

Laverne and Duggan look great. Had another look at Ellis and maybe it's the highlights package they chose but there was very little run abd just looks slow. Weller for mine ahead of Ellis but gee I just love Garlett's package. It had everything, evasive skills, high marks, crumbing goals and his natural ability on both sides for kicking disposal was unbelievable. I wouldn't be disappointed if we took him.

On that Ellis YouTube...sorry he doesn't look like a triple brownlow medallist. Is his type really what we need? He looks like he can do many things very well. But I don't think he's the point of difference we need. Now that I've said that he'll be a triple brownlow medallist.

Can Big Scooty please provide his latest mail? Our preferences for 12 and 33, please.

I thought that he was so connected that he knew the whole outcome of the national and rookie drafts.
