Pick 12 discussion.

Yes, much happier with Gartlett.

He's a line breaker and has game changing potential.

Hearing a buzz from the West that he is in our mix at 12. Makes sense as he is exactly the type of player we need.

Excuse my ignorance but I don't get it. Who is it aimed at distracting? Gold Coast is the only club who might be swayed another way thinking we are into Ellis when really we have eyes for someone else. Is that the club we are trying to hoodwink?

There are no benefits in announcing to the world who we rate, Ellis has been a timely roadblock and the media have run with it.

If we take him Bullus, how distracted are you going to feel?

I'm confident he won't be called at 12.

If Leysy was a betting man, he'd be backing Ellis unfortunately.

Usually when the jungle drums beat about our first pick in the days leading up to the draft they are correct.

True - Flossy & Lennon. Not true on Conca though. That only leaked when he became a last minute invite to the Draft.

All will be reaveled on Thursday night. Ellis is ver similar to Flossy and Conca in that they are plug and play mids. We need the outside speed and Gartlett is that.

This is what worries me too. Lennon and Vlastuin were the talk for weeks as per Ellis.

Enjoy the draft fellas dont get to disappointed i dont want to here anyone winge we have to back the club weather we like it or not

Seems like they have put the work n research into Ellis and along the way convinced themselves that he's a perfect player for us. Prob not best avail but perfect type, nice guy, inside mid, leader etc etc. Now they have the blinkers on and only looking at one guy regardless.... Hope I'm very wrong (this wold not be a professional approach)

Thinking the same. seems we get fixated on the player we've been monitoring and disregard the other top talent. It happened with Conca when Frank followed him for a few years.

There's been too much smoke around our interest in Ellis, so it looks like we'll call his name.

Richardson has said quite openly that they have their eye on 3 or 4 players for pick 12. Where Ellis is ranked on that list remains to be seen.
Besides Ellis could end up being the best player in the draft for all we know.

Yep good point.
Some people want the best kid in the draft.
Hopefully our recruiters look for how the player will be in a couple of years time. Development is the key.

They do. I remember them saying they believed Vlastuin was going to be a better player much later than some other picks and would go past them.

Or he could be a spud. I just get nervous when we rate a player a first rounder when all other clubs don't.

How do you know all other clubs don't? I've heard Adelaide, North, Essendon and Carlton all love Ellis.
