Pick 12 discussion.

Ellis?? ;D

Not overly surprised however his contested possession ratio dropped from 50% to 30% at the carnival and clearances dropped from 5 down to 2. I ran some comparisons when playing stronger opponents and noticed a significant shift down in terms of his overall production. I still have him ranked from 20-25, he may go a little earlier but not by much.

The one that falls in the champion data rankings is Duggan. Interesting.

Those figures rightly place Lever high up in the rankings, he has huge upside and must come under serious consideration if Weller is off the board & Cocky is deemed too much of a risk.

I wonder is if comes down to Ahern and Cocky, which way we go. And what if Laverde is still there? For me, he is the hardest to place.

But it's 4,5,6,7. Absolute crap shot. I don't reckon one mock draft will nail those four.

I too would like to say thanks to Scoop, Bullus, and others for posting thoughtfully about something everyone is interested in but few know much about.

Yes, I predict some big suprises, Collingwood is the key, Langford will attend the draft so he's well in the frame at 5, that means Laverde could drift down the order. This is great news for Richmond, I think we'll get a shot at one of the blue ribbon players, things are really heating up.

Is the list for kids attending the draft out yet if so who are they

There's 15 on the list, extras include Marchbank, Durdin & Langford.

go back a page, Smokey posted the list

LOL 16 players will be attending ------------- But No Ellis Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

You would think that if Richmond were looking to select Ellis they would say to the AFL , Pssst just for intrigue and photo opportunity We are looking to select Ellis so why not invite him up so it adds to the circus

Would people be happy if we landed Ahern like is predicted in the HUN?

I would be. Could start as a small forward and slowly develop to play as a full time wingman.

List now published on the Age website. Late interview of Durdin by a club makes things interesting again. Many had him sliding to mid teens last week.

Do you have a list of all the invitees by any chance mate?
Petracca, McCartin, Brayshaw, Pickett, Laverde, De Goey, Ahern, Langford, Lever, Durdin, Goddard, Marchbank, Wright, Weller, Duggan (and presumably Moore). They're just covering all their bases.

Big Footy usually get it right. ;D

Named invitees in Emma Quayle's article that Westie alluded to.

Christian Petracca
Paddy McCartin
Angus Brayshaw
Jarrod Pickett
Jordan De Goey
Paul Ahern
Jayden Laverde
Liam Duggan
Lachie Weller
Hugh Goddard
Peter Wright
Kyle Langford
Jake Lever
Caleb Marchbank
Sam Durdin

only means the top 10 are definitely in the above list. pick 12 could still be anyone.

Certainly does but by the same token if Ellis was invited then it means other interest in him. We are the only ones shopping at Aldi unfortunately.

Ellis reeks of another Conca pick. We have valued him much higher than other clubs. I wonder who will become this years Heppell.

If we take Ellis our evaluation process of prospects must be looked at. Not saying it's wrong but if we are getting different values for players than other clubs that aren't working in our favour, something is wrong. We haven't nailed second and third rounders so I'd be even more inclined to look into things.

Doesn't sound too exciting to me either, I sit firmly in the speed camp. But...does champion's ranking of Ellis at 11 justify a pick 12 price tag?

Athletically Ellis is in the same mould, very one-paced, he won't bring anything new to the table. But far from being the cynic, I have faith in the recruiting crew to make the right call here. With guys like Weller, Lever, Cockatoo & Ahern potentially available I can't see us going down this path, we will get a good inside mid at 33, no need to overshoot with our prized pick 12.

One thing the CD analysis doesn't do is weigh up the opposition, Ellis recorded strong numbers against weak opposition in the TAC, his stats at the carnival showed a steep dip in productivity. If we stack that up against Daniel, who absolutely blitzed at the carnival and then played SANFL seniors, starring in the finals, who should duly be acknowledged as the more productive? Nothing wrong with Ellis as a player but he's in the same category as Neal-Bullen & Blakely, if we had pick 20 I think he would be a suitable selection.

I might also add Laverde to the above list, EQ has him drifting out of the top ten. Ellis vs Larverde? No contest, Frank knows which side his bread is buttered.

Bully, who you would take out of Laverde or Cocky? Same types.
