Palestine and Israel

This is deeply disturbing but unfortunately not unusual in the government because Netanyahu had to have an alliance with the extremists to stay in power.
Maybe they actually aren’t that extreme now ?
Par for the course over there.
No such thing as moderate terrorists. Nor moderate government ministers prepared to fight them.

Meanwhile, we know who suffer.

It’s hard to know what the Israeli population really feel about it all.
There are moderates in Israel but whether we can hold out any hope that they have influence I now doubt.

UNRWA started operating in 1950 (founded 1949)

Are people aware that Australia has been supporting/donating to UNRWA since 1951.?
For nearly 73 years.

How much money has been given to UNRWA since its inception?
What exactly has been done with it to improve conditions for the populace?
How much has been siphoned off by leadership corruption?
How much has been diverted to terrorist groups?

No wonder countries are pissed off and want an investigation into where the funds go.
I for one disagree that my tax dollars go to UNRWNA or such like. And even decades before I was a taxpayer.

If people want to sponsor, support or donate to these causes they can. But what right do successive governments have to keep sending our tax money overseas?

I know mine won’t be a popular opinion. But bad luck, it’s mine.
If you have the strength of your convictions you can always donate more to your causes. That’s “freedom of choice”. There are ways and means.
But for me give me the same privilege. I don’t want my tax money going overseas, especially to causes I don’t support.

For over 70 years and people are still paying people to be refugees.
Why not assimilate? Does their hatred for Jews/Israelis away their wish and hope for a better future for their own children?
Surely they can see the status quo that has existed for 70+ years hasn’t worked for them. Or the terror attacks, or the invasions.
Many others have migrated to have a better life for themselves and their families.

I believe the 2 state solution is gone. That’s if it ever was going to be a solution, which I highly doubt. I should say it was never a solution. It was a pipedream some dopey politicians thought of. Gave themselves a pat on the back, a Nobel prize or 2. Palestinians were never, never going to accept it.

Where to now?
I‘m sure I don’t know

It's not just UNWRA Willo. The so called advanced, civilised, wealthy nations have been handing out trillions of dollars over the years to the U.N. and the mob that was pre U.N. to help support and advance the developing nations to improve themselves and their peoples lives.
Sadly these days there's a massive bureaucracy bogged down in the usual *smile* and dozens of countries still blowing the *smile* out of themselves and anyone else who gets in the way, while half a dozen countries have special privileges to ignore and refute anything the U.N. may decide. Nothing but a massive financial sink hole.

Why not assimilate?

Are you serious?

Are you really that ignorant?

They have been refugees for 70 years because they were chucked out of their country, thrown off their land and they are very very unwelcome in what were their villages.

The status quo doe not worked for them, but they are not in a position to change this, only Israel is.

It seems Zionist hatred of Palestinians over-rides their interests in pursuing peace.

Israel has to face the facts of its establishment in a place where others were already living.

Serious and not so ignorant when thousands of Palestinians live in Israel now. Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya. Who knows, if they got 10s of $millions in aid or support for local industries would it be an alternative to what Palestinians have now? Being refugees, they aren’t living on their ancestors land now and haven’t been for 70 years or so.
What are the alternatives, it’s easy just to dismiss ideas, but the reality is the 2 state fantasy is dead and buried. Done, gone.

Refugees since approx 1948 or even longer. 3 or 4 generations later, still refugees..
Since around 2010-2020 Australia alone has sunk $100 million into UNRNWA. I wonder what the total amount in aid $’s is. All for what? How and what has improved for the refugees? What industry has been established?
Or do people suggest more $billions in aid keep flowing in. For what?
There has to be a better way, a better way of life.

Far out Willo. UNRWA is a wonderful organisation that has done enormous good for an oppressed population.
I hate to think where the Palestinians would be with UNRWA.

They are refugees

Assimilate ? With who and where ?

SMH...

Zionism apologists keep apologising and learning nothing as time and facts come and go by. Why? Because they don't want to.

But the point is, it can’t just keep going on forever. It may assist 3rd and 4th generation refugees, but that’s not a future for them. Or the next generation.People keep referring to Gaza as the world’s largest open prison (or words to that effect). With $billions already received in aid there and in other countries. What will the future be like there? In 5 years, 10 years? Do countries just keep donating aid to UNRWA for forever and a day? They may do fine work, (debatable to some) I’m not criticising the aid workers, who I’ve said do a thankless job, even at the risk of their lives.
But like a lot of organisations does the aid really get where it’s supposed to? How much has been spent on infrastructure?(not terror tunnels) how much has gone into creating jobs? Raising the standard of living? Has it improved or worsened or stayed the same? If it hasn’t improved, therein lies a big problem for the next generations.

But surely something has got to give. What happens when the population keeps growing and growing. Where to then? I’m sure someone will say that with Israel’s genocide, the population won’t grow over time. But I beg to differ. The current population of Gaza has doubled in the last 18 years or thereabouts.
The West Bank? I’m not sure, I’ll have to do some research on population growth there. What industries exist there? Job opportunities?
I don’t know, maybe someone else has some information

Assimilate? Post #1727. I’m only trying to sound out possibilities.

People can criticise, it’s easy to do. Some posters can just sit back and take potshots without having the balls to suggest something themselves. I doubt Israel will be giving any land back. Probably the opposite.
What are other people’s thoughts of coming up with solutions where the refugees will go. Some are in Gaza, the WB, Jordan, Lebanon. Others have migrated to western countries.

I’ve asked this before. Nothing has worked so far.

Dave Chappelle nailing it again...

Lucky it wasn’t titled Space Arabs or AstroPalestinians. Imagine the outcry, imagine the rage, Imagine the teeth-gnashing.

But it’s fair game! It’s only titled Space Jews so it’s funny.

Believe he was making a statement on the Jewish/ Palestinian situation, so wouldn't have made sense to call it something else.

He wasn’t making a statement. He didn't mention anything about Palestinians.
He was trying to make a joke of Israel returning after thousands of years. I bet Palestinians didn’t see the funny side of that.
*smile* poor effort.

I will tell you one thing for sure. You don’t help a population of oppressed people who are existing in a living hell by taking away the only aid organisation who can help at the moment.
It’s impossible to talk about the long term until Israel stops destroying Gaza.
Everything else is premature. We are talking survival.
However, Israel taking the whole of Palestine ie West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem, would be one of the great injustices in history
