No Lockyer was a huge loss for the Maroons MB in regard to lack of playmakers.

Hunt was never gonna hurt NSW at origin level at 5/8.

The Maroons best get used to life without Lockyer just as the NSW fans have had to ge used to no Joey.

Bring on game 2 - QLD must make some changes.

Your right Craig, but it doesn't seem like they're going to.

Qld, apart from missing Lockyer, also appeared to have too many lard arsed type fowards,

NSW looked too fit and mobile around the ruck,

And the Bellamy influence was there to see, the speed to the line in defence and attack.

They were playing the game at a different speed.

Qld would be crazy to not include Prince if Lockyer is unavailible.

I would think about dropping Tate, moving Izzy over to that wing, give Slator a roving role off the other , and playing Hunt at FB, and Prince or Locker into the halfs.

The fact that the referee kept a very short 10 metres and rarely policed the markers staying sqaure contributed. I don't have a problem with NSW exploiting this, I just wish referees would get over this idea that they aren't supposed to blow penalties during origin. Sure, a free-flowing game is good, but a free-flowing game is more likely to happen when the players respect the referee's 10 metres.

Dragons beat Maly 20-18 in real upset. Not often Manly lose at home.Forget about Manly challenging for the title this year.

Loss of Monaghan is certainly being felt at Brookie he was almost their most critical player last year, also a injury interrupted year for the Beaver.

They havent covered Monaghan but that was always going to be a gigantic ask.

Leichhardt amplified the folly of the Tigers having 5 home grounds yesterday as 17.5k partisans willed the Tigers to edge out the GC 20-18 in the season's 1st game (only 11 weeks into the season & 1 of only 3 this year) at the league's most traditional venue.

Odd game as the GC,when they weren't making mistakes, actually looked the more potent attacking team but the conservative Tigers snuck home on the back of a substantially lower error rate.Marshall is a long way from bring a force & carrying a fair bit of 'condition'. Hodgson will be sorely missed next year & Prince, though not dominant, sorely showed the Tigers how much they miss his class.

Still,a win is a win & something to build on next Monday v Easts.

Michael Crocker to quit Melbourne Storm at end of season
EXCLUSIVE: MELBOURNE Storm enforcer Michael Crocker has been released from the final year of his contract and will move to England at the end of 2008.

Crocker has signed with Hull FC in the English Super League for three years.

The 27-year-old has never been beaten in a Storm jersey _ his amazing streak standing at 29 matches.

Crocker was contracted until the end of 2009 but has always expressed concerns about his body lasting the distance in the NRL.

He will join former Storm teammates Clint Newton, Garret Crossman, Scott Hill and Matt King in the Super League.......................

With Crocker going would love to see Clint Newton come back.Crocker has been fantastic for Storm but has had his share of injuries.Hull taking a big risk giving him a 3 year deal.

Can't knock Crocker for going, good club servant but he can be replaced and deserves a nice UK pay day.

Do you think Newton is a chance? I heard he enjoyed being down here, but haven't heard much from him since he left.

He is in the UK & signed a 2 year deal.I'm sure he'd love to come back to the Storm.

Its a financial decision,

He thinks he can get another three years out of his body over there, the game is not as intense there,

Here , he would probably get one he thinks

3 years salary , verses 1,

Cant blame him, for trying to set himself up.

At least he wont be playing against us.

But we lose the good luck charm.

Storm thump Doggies 46-0 tonight. In fairness to Doggies they have a heap of injuries. In some bad news for the Storm Will Chambers did his knee at training yesterday & will be out for the season & will have a reco next week.
