NRL

No Balmain or Wests in their own right is another tragedy.

Geez i miss those halcyon days of NRL in the 80s and 90s before Superleague tore the heart out of the game.

Great names great club great tragedy indeed.

I signed the bring back Norths petition you know ..... fair dinkum.

My workmate is a Norths member and i am thinking of joining too Leagues Club at least.

Itd be great if they came back, its not impossible and i would like to think they would be the next team in imo as they were so close last time especially if Singo is involved.
There has to be some hope as I'm certain a team will end up being based out of Bluetongue Stadium, Gosford. Singo is involved with both Bluetongue Beer and the Stadium. The crowds they get there for the CC Mariners are fantastic, especially against the Newcastle Jets. So the exact same thing could happen with a Central Coast based team and the Newcastle Knights. As to which team ends up there I'd rate the order of favouritism as 1. Rabbitohs 2. Bears(or Bears/Rabbitohs*) 3. Eagles

NSWRL Premier League
North Sydney currently play in the second-tier NSWRL Premier League competition, serving as the reserve side for Souths. They have also been affiliated with the Warriors and the Storm in the past. There is a movement among Bears' fans for a return to first-grade Rugby League, with the North Sydney Bears relocating to Gosford (on the Central Coast, New South Wales) and becoming the Central Coast Bears. Some believe that a team in this part of New South Wales would be highly successful, while others believe the NRL should prioritise other areas of Australia and New Zealand for expansion teams. In the 2007 NSWRL Premier League the North Sydney Bears made the Grand Final facing off against Sydney rivals Parramatta. They were beaten 15-20 by Joel Reddy Scoring a try with just 10 seconds to go.

David Peachey played his last game in that Grand Final and missed out on a flag by 10 seconds :'(

Yep the Peach was very stiff, a sad end for him. Woulda been nice to see the Bears hold up a trophy too.
I thought Jason Taylor treated Peachey very poorly at the end there with Souths but maybe he was simply trying to send him off with a flag. In doing so it would have given Peach something the Sharks could never achieve and also help the Bears win another one(first since 1922 :'( ) . As I said before Taylor is a smart cookie ;)

Another sage observation Sneezy. Showing good form on this thread you are ;)
It's good to have someone to chat with who is equally as passionate about the game :D

Have you ever played it?

Thanx guys lovely work there ;D

Firstly my dear Sneezy i have mucked around with league like most at high school but have never and would never play at competetive levels or district etc.

Main reason is that at 6"4 and lean in my younger days i had a neck that would easily be snapped. I am one that is well aware i did not have the body type for rugby league, i was quick and had good hands but just lacked neccessary body size; i was a bean pole type as a youngster.

Probably wouldve played at Lock if i did play or Full Back.

As for the Warriors MB knows damn well i am no fan of the Warriors and he likes to rib me about it, but to be honest i actually hate Manly and Easts more

Good man! :clap

You are right about body types though...... giraffes are best suited to AFL :D

The reason so many Islanders do well at the rugby codes is they have such mature bodies at an early age. Jonah Lomu reckons it all comes from eating kumara(sweet potato) as a staple food. The other aspect is keeping healthy and injury free and the best way of doing that according to Ruben Wiki is to drink lots of kava. The sooner RFC puts our players onto a kumara and kava diet the better our chances will be of producing a strong competitive team again. Our players must currently be on quiche and diet coke ???

I played up until university level as a dashing winger, though my career was cut short due to a chronic lack of speed or ability.

News just in Wayne Bennett has told the Broncos he will not coach them beyond this season. If I was Graham Murray I'd be very nervous as I would be surprised if Bennett isn't coaching the Cowboys in 2009.
