I'm on Tim Smith's side. He obviously plays at his best when he has the freedom to have a few too many beers. Let him do it.

I dont think its the drinking point MLD more the fact that he gets blind becomes a obnoxious aggressive menace to the public and threatens innocent people.

The guy cant control his grog or himself when hes on it, thats more to the point, he will get himself seriously hurt ( cop a flogging), or hurt someone else doing something stupid

I agree, though I think his difficulties are symptomatic of the 'zero tolerance' attitude that teams try to adopt. I am a strong belivre that zero tolerance leads to dangerous binge drinking as displayed by Smith. Clubs shouls be promoting responsible drinking, with supervised acceptance for the inevitable benders.

It's a bit of a worry when Piggy Riddell is his minder :fire

NRL just announced that next year's grand final will start at 5pm instead of 7pm.I'm in the minority & would have preferred the 7pm kickoff.

It's the same day daylight saving starts and apparently the game will finish before dark.

Probably not a bad compromise all things considered.

It's great when you watch it on TV or go to the game late....... but it's a bloody long day when you take the kids for the whole program. Also those who like a few sherbets can get a bit testy by then too.

I've been up for all 3 GFs that the storm have played in, and if I was going up again, I would be all for the 5 pm start,

It is a long day hanging around the city, trying to watch your alcohol intake, so you are in a good state for the game,

And it gives you more time to celebrate after the win.

There was no celebrating last year

Call me ol fashioned but i preferred the Sunday arvo GF it was a more manageable double for enjoyments sake with beers and bbqs etc.
maybe im too nostalgic.

Tim Sheens and Ricky Stuart re signed to 2009 and 2010.

Good work by both clubs as Sheen is a master coach and Stuart may get the best outta those perrenial underachievers in Cronulla.

There will be coaches going in 08 for sure with Folkes, Brown and Smith most in the gun for mine.

used to work for a QLD company, and nearly everyone I spoke to hated the night final. Killed their ritual of BBQ's and drinking during the day, and were far from happy with the move to a night TV spectacular.

As Craig mentioned Tim Sheens re-signs with Tigers as does Ricky Stuart with the Sharks. The coaches who look to be in the firing line next year are Nathan Brown,Brian Smith & Steve Folkes.Don't be surprised if Wayne Bennett finishes up at the Broncos as his relationship with the club appears strained.

Good observation there MB re Bennett, the fabric of the Broncos has come a little unstuck over past 6 months with the loss of Club Favourites in Petero, Tate, Berrigan, Carlaw and Thorn, but also Bennetts hand out scandel.

I dont see the Broncos impacting 08 in a huge fashion with a 7 th or 8th pozzie i reckon their likely finish with 6th at absolute...... absolute best.

The future will be ok for the Broncos with further maturation of the likes of Eastwood, Hunt, Taylor, Thaiday and Boyd etc but 08 will be a year where the Broncos tread water a bit like 07 due to injuries and list turnover for mine.

Get on the Woosters from Bondi to be the big improvers in 08.

Freddie will have the Roosters jumping and with the addition of Shrek O Meley and Mouth Mason to Myles, Shillington and Paea the Roosters have forward power to set up the likes of Roberts, Minichiello, Soliola, Tupou and Pearce.

They should definately make the 8 next year one would think.

Bennett stresses loyalty to the club with players & their contracts ,while he's been receiving big cash handouts.

Thats been a bit of an issue for the media up in Brisneyland too.

Talk of the NRL wanting Bennett to coach the KIWIS.

Fair dinkum is this the NRL or the charity for NZRL.

Stuff em, and stuff the Warriors throw them out and bring back Norths as a founding club and take em to Central Coast and call em the NORTHERN BEARS so the ol Bears fans can have their club back.

All this inclusion of NZ in all Australian domestic sports comps is a joke.

:clap

Especially with all the recent whining coming from down Brookvale way, including talk about moving back to Gosford. Whichever team moves there will be a big winner long term. It ought to be the Rabbitohs or the Bears,,,,,,,,, but never ever those scavenger Seagulls
