Thats been a bit of an issue for the media up in Brisneyland too.

Talk of the NRL wanting Bennett to coach the KIWIS.

Fair dinkum is this the NRL or the charity for NZRL.

Stuff em, and stuff the Warriors throw them out and bring back Norths as a founding club and take em to Central Coast and call em the NORTHERN BEARS so the ol Bears fans can have their club back.

All this inclusion of NZ in all Australian domestic sports comps is a joke.

It's in the NRL's best interests for the game of NRL to be more successfull and popular in NZ,

It comes a big second to Union over there, and struggles at times with finance etc,

But there is a fantastic talent pool of junior players over there ,particulary the polynesians ,who add another dimension to the game, who could all be easily lost to union,

NZ league could not survive without Australias help, it would get swallowed up by Union, very fast.

Australia could easily turn their back, but in the bigger picture, the sport would be poorer.

There are people in Sydney, plenty of them, who have exactly the same attitude towards the MElb Storm.

Ive heard it first hand.

Agree with this, at the moment we have union strong in NZ and league strong in Australia, and it does no good for either code at the end of the day. League needs a strong NZ to prosper, and with union having massive issues at the moment now is not the time to back off.

It is the same in NZ as it is in France and a few other countries (and Melbourne), league is a niche sport, but that niche is fanatical. League may not have big support in these countries, but it isn't in danger of dying either.

League has good support in NZ from a spectator point of view, it is well watched on pay TV,

As far as playing, it is fairly restricted to a few areas, like South Auckland ,

Most kids growing up playing league in NZ have also played alot of Union, and can easily play both,

When the talented ones get to about 16r 17 , they have to make a decision on their future,

Tana Umaga, Jona Lomu, Piri Weepu are a few names of guys who played league growing up but switched to rugby because of the better opportunities rugby has to offer in NZ, there are others,

Take away the Warriors there will be even less opportunities for their league juniors.

So the aim is to provide greater opportunities along the league path for the kids.

To keep the good ones in the game , yep,

I played both growing up in NZ , and I know rugby is a far more attractive option to a young gifted player than league,

And Im not just talking money, the under age rep scene in Union is the best in the world, League offers buggerall as a teenager unless you are a freak and you manage to get a NRL club Scholarship like Sonny Bill and Benji,

Big move though , moving overseas to do your schooling etc at 16 .

Storm appear to be having troubles re-signing Israel Falou. He will be the subject of some big offers so it will be no surprise to see him depart. My tip would be the Broncos.

Hope your right Skipper but he's not keen to negotiate new terms at the moment.

I think the Storm should have the front running to resign him,

But it may not be easy,

The Storm have admitted they will not be able to match some of the offers he will recieve due to salary cap restrictions,

So they will rely on his loyalty,

The team that may be able to tempt him is the Roosters, who have admitted they will go after him with everything they can offerd,

And have his younger brother on their list.

What now, with O Meley and Mason i would love to know where the Roosters would get the money from for Izz.

The Roosters are a disgrace all this mob do is steal from those who invest in the kids and turn them into players then throw money at em.

Rorting SOBS they are.

Shane Webcke to be given job coaching the young forawrds at Brizneyland.

Youngsters such as Taylor, Hannant, Sammy T, Sims, Clinton, and Eastwood etc will benefit greatly from the close tuition from the great WEBBY.

Also cant understand this need to get Bennet to coach the Kiwis ffs.

Reckon a bloke called Ivan Cleary a born and bred Kiwi wouldnt mind being offered the job.

Be careful Craig or you might get sued.

A Sydney boy.

Well my unreserved apologies, then to Ivan. How silly of me. On the surface I just thought he was a Kiwi as hes played for them for so long and now coaches them. Thanx for clearing that up Sneezy.

Well i still reckon he'd be a better option to coach the Kiwis anyways id like to think he would have greater affinity with NZ players after playing for the Warriors, and now coaching them back into the finals.

Maybe one Stacey Jones may become the next KIWI born coach down the track, now i know im safe declaring Jones a Kiwi cos he played for em ;D

I know it sounds weird but I reckon it will be a good thing for Rugby League for Bennett to coach the Kiwis. Someone like Ivan or Stacey could be his deputy and eventually take over. Clearly players like Asotasi and Kidwell want Bennett. Bennett also would like to have a crack at Ricky Stuart....... there is no love lost between those two :D

Back on Cleary. I cant remember whether he was at Manly first before going to the North Sydney Bears(and then the Roosters) but I was a Bears member when he played there. Mal Graham and Graham Lowe were Kiwis that he mixed with and I believe it was Lowe who got him to the Warriors from The Roosters. Both Cleary and Jason Taylor came through at the same time and were very astute footballers. No surprise then to see them become coaches.

Yes thanx for that Sneezy of course Cleary played for the Bears how did i not remember that.

Oh the mighty Bears bring em back i say even if its in Gosford as the Northern Bears, same symbol, same colours same song same history just a bit more North than they used to be.

NRL is poorer without the Bears and i didnt even barrack for em.

Bring em back i says.

Florimo, Taylor, Cleary, Kiss, Boustead, Larsson, Moore some big names, well if i remember correctly Sneezy these guys were all Bears at some stage were they not.

Spot on mate...... the biggest tragedies in modern Rugby League were losing the Bears and not having a team playing out of Gosford stadium. Manly screwed the Bears like you would never believe. The merger was never on in the first place as Norths never ever trusted Manly.

Those players. Plus the ex Rabbitoh Mario Fenech who was very much loved at the Bears too. David Fairleigh, Marty Bella, Brett Dallas, Benny Ikin, Peter Jackson(RIP) and Donny McKinnon.

Great names great club great tragedy indeed.

I signed the bring back Norths petition you know ..... fair dinkum.

My workmate is a Norths member and i am thinking of joining too Leagues Club at least.

Itd be great if they came back, its not impossible and i would like to think they would be the next team in imo as they were so close last time especially if Singo is involved.
