He aint coming to Melbourne Craig,Brian Waldron said there is no salary cap room.Maybe he could go to that other team you love the Warriors.

:hihi :hihi :hihi

Touche MB good work as always ;)

Seriously i heard a rumor Souths may offload Cusack to England and use his cash to try and lure Mason, however i dont believe Mason would be a good fit at the new Souths.

The Bondi mob who dont develop their own and just pinch players from every other club are his best fit, i hope Freddie is prepared to hold tight reins on Willie though.

Nate Myles no certainty to be at Bondi with off field indiscretions tarnishing him, if he goes he could be off back to QLD to join either the Titans or Cowboys.

More player movements to be completed no doubt over next week or two id reckon.

Think you find Sharks are trying to offload Ben Ross to Superleague but thus far he's resisted.Heavily overpaid but Sharks were silly enough to pay over the odds for him.

MB Just had that rumor confirmed by reading Daily Telgrapgh website ie a Queenslander going back to play with Titans from Roosters its not Myles but in fact its Ashley Harrison that will quit Easts tomorrow and head to the Titans on a 3 year deal which will free up extra funds for Mason.

Stay tuned.

Ashley Harrison is a good player and will be a good pick up for the Titans as a lock.

Welld done Craig, this has been confirmed but Mason still not confirming where he will go.

Canterbury have signed , Rhys Jack (half) & Liam Roach (prop), sons of Balmain greats Garry Jack & Steve Roach , to play in their 2008 NYC (new 2nd tier comp) team...

Easts & Willie Mason set to finalise a 3 year deal shortly . Just waiting on some further changes to Rooster player roster to free up appropriate space . Prop Shillington & winger Williams said to be considering their futures . Shillington could well end up at Belmore while Williams said to be weighing up offers from GC & NQ.

I must say without seeing or knowing anything of these boys (if they are any good) i reckon its a dead set disgrace that Wests Tigers let go the sons of Blocker Gary Jack and Junior Pearce to Canterbury a bitter Balmain enemy.

Fancy letting go sons of club greats, thats no way to keep hard core Balmain fans feeling a tie to the merged unit.

Geez if they are any good Dogs fans will be wrapt.

Youve gotta be a bit miffed Jubey...................... are you pissed about it or arent the boys any good.

Yes , on face value, very disappointed , especially if they make the top grade early on , like Mitchell Pearce did at Easts.

To be honest though, don't know much about them, other than their name.Don't seem to recall them getting much,if any time in the Balmain Premier League (reserve grade).
Their fathers acknowledge they had a fair bit of traffic in front of them at the Tigers, particularly in the forwards (lot of young Pacific Islander boys in the lower grades at Balmain - we're not 'Robinson Crusoe' re that trend) so obviously an understandable decision to chase the best opportunity to make the big time

Seems the new National Youth (under 20s) Comp (replacing Premier League as the 2nd tier & immediate feeder level to NRL top grade from 2008) could well be counter productive to its aim to provide pathways to youth as clubs are shedding 20-21 year olds & more mature types (though most still young u/24) , in favour of more extreme youth & immature bodies in the target u/20 age range. Blocker Roach's eldest son, a 20 y/o,played at Cronulla this year , has been cut from their list due to the age constraint & is now contemplating a return to R Union.

You'd think the larger the gap in age/physical maturity re NRL & their feeder systems, the greater the chance of youth possibly suffering lasting physical damage...

Will be fascinating to see how the new changes settle in. The National Youth comp will be fantastic to watch. I reckon it will often produce a better quality attacking game than the main game. Hopefully crowds will increase as a result. Also what will be the TV coverage(if any??).

So much of the success(or failure) of the changes depends on how much slack the second division comp picks up. Clubs like North Sydney and Newtown will play an even more crucial role.

The saga of sons of famous fathers starting at different clubs makes the AFL father/son rule seem like an ideal option. But that usually means a draft system which the NRL is unlikely to endorse.

I have mixed feelings about the NYL. As a old-fashioned follower of a team in a second tier comp rather than anyone in the NRL, it is good that NRL teams will be putting their kids in their own teams rather than putting them in second tier comp clubs. In the end it will be detrimental to the kids' development though, as they won't be playing adults, widening the gap between reserves and first grade.

Surprise surprise Mason signs with the Roosters but still has to be granted a release from the doggies.3 year deal worth about a mil.

Strange situation. Dogs gave Willie permission to speak with other clubs but surely further negotiation is needed before he can be released.

The current situation equates to both parties ripping up the current contract........ like a quickie divorce.

Well with a starting 13 that includes the likes of Minichiello (fit), Mason, OMeley, Ryles, Anasta, Shillington, Roberts and Tupou the Roosters are looking finals bound for mine.

Interesting to see the Roosters premiership odds slashed back to 11s and the dogs drift to $26.

Looking at the Dogs leftover roster there aint enough size or menace with Williams the only real enforcer remaing.

Ryan and Maitua are good players but lack size and the backs are small and give away plenty in the days of the new tall athletic backs such as Grothe, Folau, Gasnier, Inglis, Tupou, and Hodges etc.

08 to be a long year for the dogs.

I hope not Craig. We've given them Fitzgibbon and Roberts, both excellent players in the past, and that's enough. Now they have half the Bulldogs as well.

More changes are surely on the cards at Belmore. Noad and Folkes ought to go so they can start afresh. Probably Peponis too. Who would you like to see in charge Craig to set about rebuilding the famous Bulldog spirit and unity?

Brad Clyde, Kevin Moore and Terry Lamb are currently involved at the club. Steve Price is/was a great ambassador and favourite. He basically had to move to NZ(due to an alleged gambling addiction.....pokies??) so I dont know whether he can come back. Turvey coming back is a difficult ask. Graeme Hughes????

Interesting to see the storm have signed ex player, Ben mcdougal, a centre to replace King,

I personally would like to see them sign or unearth a five eigth,(alot easier said than done) and move Inglis back to centre.

Storm still have ex Shark Russell Aitken who is a 5/8th.Geyer could fill in there for his final year also.

Both wanted to part ways,Roosters once again grab an established name which will put them in good shape for 2008 but not so sure 3-4 years down the track.

Yeah, I really believe Inglis is a more destructive player, when he is running the football, especially down the left hand side of the field, where he can get that massive right fend happening,

He did a resonable job at 5/8th, but i dont think he is a natural there,

Would love to see him at left centre, and Israel at right.

That would be a headache for opposing teams.

yep for mine Geyer is an ok 5/8 and the Storm are best to put there most lethal weapons in positions to best utilise them.

Inglis is restricted at 5/8 and is also easily targeted, whereas in the centres both he and Folau are given room to move and do damage.

Storm could do worse than try and poach Dan Holdsworth from the Dogs for 5/8.
