Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Really surprised he was dropped, would love to know the rationale.
We are going for risk reward because of the structure colingwood plays. We are banking on being able to harass them to an extent that they turn the ball over, we are going to try and lock into our front half. To do that we need speed and tackling.
If we were playing west coast he would have played imo

We changed the game by going small up forward in 2017, reckon we are trying something similar in 2019 with the backs.
Our run out of defence is not a strong suit, especially with Houli and Rance out, so we've decided we have enough talls and I agree. 187cm Vlastuin took care of 194cm Charlie Curnow last week. I'll back him to beat Mihocek.

Balta was brought in to protect Lynch from rucking but it's not ideal for structure. Lynch is 200cms. We basically need him to be able to support Nank. PCL issues & all.
If he can do that it enables us to play an extra small. Much better for team balance.

Correct ToOts, just the thought of Tommy rucking is unnerving, but is not much different to smashing packs.

PCL is a contact injury unlike ACL.

Collingwood run us off our feet last time. I think you'll find that dimma knows now we have lost Rance we need manic pressure to help the back line out.
It will be interesting to see where Balta plays in the 2's. They might want to give him some time at CHB.

Would have preferred that Balta got another game even if only to give Nank a chop out in the ruck.

We got flogged in the ruck and midfield in the prelim last year, now Nank has no support and Bobble, George and Lego are not mids nor key defenders. Filled up with flankers n not sure it's a wise move.

Gee, I'm surprised too, I reckon he should be given a few games. If this is to pick a team to suit the opposition then I'm fine but otherwise I'd keep Balta in.

If this is horses for courses I don't have a problem with the decision.

The players included are all endurance players with Georgy and Markov extra pacey as well.

I reckon they've sent him back to the 2s to play him in defence rather than throw him in defence in the AFL after playing forward all pre season. Not a bad plan actually

That’s the consensus in our house too. 2-3 weeks playing back in the VFL. under the tutelage of Rqncy

With Markov , Ellis & Castagna coming into the team which already has good speed and run

Looking like we will be aiming to run the legs off this mob tomorrow night

But with the weather being clear just hope we have enough height on the ground as relief ruck is going to be a concern

Have taken a big gamble on Nank staying fit and strong for the entire game. A tired or sore Nank could easily bled a lot of quick goals from the centre bounce late in the game in a 666 arrangement

Yes a risk, but also a gamble to win.

How often has Nank gone off early in a game?

Imo we will use a makeshift ruck while cox rucks, and Nank will play his usual 85%

I’m with you TM.
Looks like we’ve lost this game at the selection meeting to me!
Hope I’m made to eat my words but I’m gonna change my tip.
