Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Showed a little bit. Interesting do we keep him in as the backup ruck/utility & bring Garth in to replace Rance or do we send him down back ?

If Garth is fit I would bring him in for Rance. Balta to keep playing as back up Ruck/forward but to spend some time in defence as well.

Balta played 50% game time. A respectable 25 pressure acts. Interesting though was 223 metres gained from his 5 kicks, that's over 40 metres a kick. A sign of how he will be used this year?

I think Noah should be slotted into Rances role and that we should bring in CCJ, Garth might need some time to be ready.

CCJ is nowhere near ready. He's not yet gaining ruck control at VFL level. Can't see the Tigers switching Balta back. Clearly been designated and practised pre-season as the relief ruckman.

thinking about it, Noah needs a super run at what he did last night, build that tank and disposal consistency up.
don't send him down back.

I liked what Noah did last night, but he wasn’t involved in the play enough to hold his place long term. I did nudge my Tiger mate in the ribs last night, who has an actual life and doesn’t obsess over watching the juniors, when Noah got that ruck free. I said “watch this kick!”. He didn’t disappoint roosting it 60 meters over the back of the pack for a goal.

I was wondering how we keep him in the team when Caddy comes back, but I think Rance’s misfortune may have answered for me. Balta is a Rance clone physically, nowhere near as good mark, but much better kick. I would groom him down back on the 3rd best tall rotating in the ruck.

Many forget how bad Rance was when he started ( Allybabe anybody?), Balta is actually way ahead of Alex at the same age, it’s just a much harder team to get into.

Would not drop Balta or change his role

Balta was the reason we got 3 goals last night and just look at the freedom that Nank is getting whilst Balta is in the team

Keep Balta in the team and we probably dont need a KPB next week so maybe Markov for a week before Garth is ready

Rance wasn't that bad. Looked great before a very heavy concussion, was out for quite a while, and then took a lot of time for him to find confidence and form again. Balta only played half a game. I wonder if that was by design.

H/S article saying his going to have to wait till seasons end for contract extension. That’s a bit scary I’d say, however if his playing well I’m sure will put something in front of him before then.

Hmmmm. Comes from the bombers area. Would not be surprised if they have targeted him.

If he's stupid enough to go there, we don't want him. But we do want him, and we don't lose blokes we want.

I wouldn't read too much into it, a lot of young players do the same.

He could sign for 2 years now on low money or he can back himself to play well enough this year to make himself significantly more valuable.

For every player it works for there's another one it doesn't.
Yep, if he has a bumper season he could re-sign for possibly double what he’d get if he re-signed today. And if he has an ordinary season he’d still get what he’d get if he signed today.

When the coach makes a statement that he is next Rance he ain’t going nowhere.

Would be very high on the clubs priority list in terms of re-signing.
