Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Will play round 1. Time to see what he can do.

And what's wrong with boiled lollies?

Agree TM.

The humbugs they make at Sovereign Hill are elite.

I thought Notorius competed really well and his grab, run, pump, goal in the centre bounce,

Was not something that grigga or ivan are capable of.

Plays R1

I think he is a natural talent worth persevering with ,

But due to his age and inexperience will more than likely have his up and down moments ,

Just think to begin with , good chance it wont be all beer and skittles , best to prepare yourself for that

Even when lynch is in the side i think balta will play. Nank needs a chop out in the centre square and that's the last place lynch will be playing in the foreseeable future.

He's ready to play and get some games under his belt before perhaps a spell and then hopefully back for finals. He's a physical prodigy. Other comparisons have been made but for me the closest is the teenage Glenn Jakovich who rucked in the 91 finals and had 25 disposals against Melbourne in a semi and 23 against Geelong in a prelim.

Pretty salivationary comparison there spooky.

Ill raise you a Kouta

The first JLT was a day game as were nearly all the VFL games last year. Wonder if the fact it was a night game caused him some issues, especially with judging the ball flight for marking? Hope he is selected Rd1 so he gets more experience under lights.

Moderate the platitudes people. Setting the kid up for a big fall. Yes could be anything but still very very raw. Ordinary yesterday.

He's miles ahead of Soldo anyway. Deserves a game. I thought he and Dusty sparked us early in the third in the guts. Soldo just competes in the ruck and then stands there.

Chance to stand up and decided to sit down instead.
Did he bring his own chair?

He was, but as others have said, he competes adequately in the ruck and offers much more around the ground than Soldo does.

Still not sure he is quite ready for the bigtime yet. Does some very clever things but not consisitent enough IMO. He is still undersized for a second ruck and our ruck work improved when Soldo came on.
Reckon Balta's only chance to player round 1 is if Lynch doesn't play

Balta is a lock for round 1. Nanks will do most of the ruck work with Balta backing up for breathers. Reiwoldt, Lynch and Balta floating down at times taking on the 3rd best key defender is going to cause nightmares for opposition teams. We just can't deliver into the forward line like we did first half though. There's a reason Reiwoldt had only 1 disposal in the first half.

I were screaming at the TV last night in that 1st half it was just panicked bombing into the forward line only to be intercepted time after time it was atrocious, (maybe in their mindfulness session before the game Emma Murray convinced them that the all conquering BIG Tom was alive and kicking in the goal square ;D).
Glad they snapped out of it in the second half.

I think Balta and Soldo will be be given roles to play this year. Not together though.

Soldo for mine against taller and mobile ruckman (it was clear the first half was lost)

Balta on slower and medium size ruckman.

Both will get time on field and this should help both to develop further.

Balta did some very very nice things. Cant expect a 19yo to rip every game apart.

At 19yo you’ll be expecting him to start ripping games apart.
Disappointing

Is there such a thing as a bad bumhug? Erm, oops I mean bad humbug. Makes for an expensive humbug if you've gotta pay admission to Sovereign Hill just to hit the lolly shop.

Balta must be played, We really cannot afford not to play him to be honest

He is urrently our 2nd best ruckman tht can play alongside Nankervis

Soldo is just not upto Afl level and probably wont ever be a 1st Ruckman

Question to all.

Is it trendy to bag Soldo without justification?

He’s a kid who is doing a truck load of work to help our club and yet he’s getting a jeer squad.
it is the sheep mentality?
