Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Interesting to see how he backs up v the hawks. That period in the 2nd Q v the Dees was just insane, the purple patch was like watching a high school kid playing among under 10's. A solid game will get him a round 1 call for sure I would suspect.

great stuff ET

How the hell did we pick up him and Higgins in a premiership season ?

Its something you wouldve expected the Hawks to do a few years back ,

Our fortunes certainly have changed

You better be getting in the ear of Matthew Clark, Easy.

If Easy Jnr ends up playing for any other club than the RFC, I'll personally salt the earth at your farm.

Outstanding by the big fish 8-

It’s about time we hide him somewhere in the Mildura area I say.

Jr is comfortable with finding a new family if he doesnt make the cut for RFC

Raises the question, does good recruiting find good players or does a good environment make a good player?

You cant pluck feathers from a frog

Just going to throw this out there. Could Balta line-up on Cripps and be used in a run with role?

Could do, but i'd rather he play forward and 2nd ruck, also i think Cripps is going to play forward a bit this season.

Cripps is a contested possession beast. I don't think Balta running with him would be of much use.

If people think Tambling over Franklin was bad, I’m convinced Lennon over Cripps is even a bigger blunder.
Cripps, Martin, Cotchin, we wouldn’t lose a game for 3 years

That's true but the one thing all draftees have in common is they are elite players in their age bracket.

Some are not able to handle the physical demands of the game, some are not able to handle the mental demands but plenty don't make it for reasons that are hard to pick.

It's one of those great unanswerable questions of sport I reckon.

Would Richard Tambling come in to our club now and shine? He oozed talent when he burst on the scene.

Would we be talking about Ty Vickery as we are Balta if he'd been drafted at the same point?

Yeahit is interesting.

I reckon theres some players, the pure footballer, who wouldnt even need a coach. Im thinking Cotchy and JR, maybe Higlet?

Theres some blokes that need the penny to drop that they are good enough. Its above the shoulders. And they just get better and better. Id offer Rance as an example and i think good coaches get them to the starting point of success.

And theres blokes who reach their level at u18 or vfl and no amount of coaching will get them to AFL - possibly the hardest to predict? Think Ben Lennon, although the data was there i think?

And theres blokes like Lambert, who everyone thinks reached his level at VFL and steps up.

I reckon the Lamberts if the world are the greatest coaching triumph. Some wonderful coach has facilitated a mental and technical development that enables them to progress further than all the others. Lambert going from a 2/10 player to a 8/10 is way better coaching than Dusty going from 7/10 to 10/10 IMO.

I heard nick maxwell speak at our junior club and said 'the best kid now, wont be the best in 10 years' he guarenteed it, but then we played southport and Nick Reiwoldt was on the wall as B&F every year from u8 to u18.

I guess what im trying to say in all this is, dont ever hire nick maxwell as a coach?
