I was very pleased to see Vlastuin get number 1. But after reading your post ToO it would have been a perfect fit to hand over the 17 to one of our most determined and hardest players.

Agreed.

A move to the middle could just be the difference between finishing sixth and barnstorming the top four.

Will Yarran and Houli working in tandem mitigate the need for Flossy down back? Hunt can lock down if needed, though I'm not sure he's in our best 22.

The Dutchman could be the grunt we need.

Flossy and Jack, splitting time (and skulls) in the middle ;D

I would love to see Vlastuin in the middle but I also don't want to lose what he brings down back. I always feel safe when the ball is in his hands in the back half, he brings a level of footy smarts and calmness that is very important.

I have always felt Vlossy is a bit like Joel Sellwood. I am not saying he is at the level of Sellwood but that the way he plays is very much like him. He looks a little slow but seems to have time, makes good decisions with the ball and is tough and hard.

I agree but he is our Corey Enright.

Given our pressing need for someone of his size, strength, hardness and poise we are negligent if we dont seriously explore his ability in the most important area of the ground.

The coalface.

When he was drafted the nock on him was his tank. He's come a long way, but I doubt he will ever have the tank for the midfield. But for the odd critical bounce or two every now and again...

I'd enjoy seeing that given a shoot.

Nick into the guts will be instrumental in getting our hands on the ball first, somewhat negating the need for him to be down back.
I also want Sammy Loyd to spend sometime in the middle,he's aggressive and very creative.
Get your hands on the ball first and make the opposition chase you!!!!

Exactly. We need to see if we have got a good midfielder on our hands. Will be the missing piece if he has success in the middle.

This is a move I'd love to see, provided he is physically capable of doing it. Would hate to get him so tired that he then fatigues and the opposition play through his opponent late in games.

Fearless, courageous and shows great leadership. If he's fit enough, get him in there.

Not convinced. Like him as our hodge General down back. If going to give it a spin, try it in the Bank Challenge games first..

i think i agree. he is strong and hard, but i dont know if that translates to winning clearances etc. and i dont know if he ever has been a clearance winning, high possession mid through his junior career.

what he is though is a very good intercept marker, composed under pressure, capable of matching taller opponents in the air and good defensively.

i would love to see him as a very good mid, but i dont know if he will be, at least yet.
moving him to the midfield we risk losing a very important piece of our backline to add an average mid.
certainly give him some stints in the centre square, but i dont think we should be moving him full-time at this point.

Don't think anyone is saying move him there full time.

That doesn't preclude Hardwick from giving him a taste in there and see where it leads from there.

Who knows, the coach may even give himself a couple of options (Hi Jack) to insert when the opposition start toweling us up from the centre square in Elimination Finals.

Exactly LD

Will probably get laughed down for this but if A Moore is going to be the player I think he can be, Moore to HBF, Flossy to the guts.
B - Batch Chaplin Houli
HB - Grimes Rance Moore
C - Grigg Flossy Ellis
HF - Reiwaldt Griffiths Lids
F - Edwards Vickery Martin
Ruck - Maric Cotch Miles
IC - Yarran Lambert McIntosh Conca

Starting Batch ahead of Yarran? And I won't even get going on the 'Griffiths ahead of McHeyzeus' issue with your team... ;D

Solidarity in the backline my friend, if last year is anything to go by, only thing that will stop us is kryptonite.
"Mcheyzues"?? Wasn't he in Die Hard III??

Come on Daisy I know you want Miles to play at half back and Cotch to play FF.
