Still a few years away from being a genuine mid. Needs to build his endurance and learn to get more of the ball.

Genuine A grade footballer. Captain material. Best player (small) I've seen in back line seen the sheedy / Malthouse era
Tough as nails.
And we saw how damaging he can be when he goes in the middle. Watch the west coast game again.
It's not his fault Hardwick couldn't make a change to save himself

I think Hunt is a coach favourite and I doubt he will be making way for Yarran. I still think Yarran could be that elusive skillful small forward we've been missing. I just can't see him not playing there at some stage this year. They experimented with Morris there for god's sake. Does raise the question though is Morris's days numbered?

i dont think Morris was ever played as an elusive, skillful small forward.

I tend to agree here. They extended Hunt for 2 years at the end of the season, they wouldn't have done that if they were considering him being a predominantly VFL player.

#1 is a great number, but where does this leave our greatest number, still unused?

The longer the number 17 remains retired the less likely it is of ever coming out again.
Personally would have liked to have seen Flossy get it. Not sure why the club won't give it to someone.

Agree with that. I wonder what numbers were offered to which players or what the protocol is for allocating them.

Personally I don't really care who gets it. Jack's one of several players who've worn it.
Clearly he wore it with great distinction but others should be given the opportunity in the number 17.

Is the number still not reserved for the Richmond captain.

I assume whoever takes charge after Cotch will have the choice of wearing it or not.

Yes I think that's the reason the number is reserved.

I would think, in time, the Captain and club could decide to put it to a club and member vote if there was a player they thought could wear it.

Perhaps?!

Not in my view.
I thought it was a great idea.
I'm a bit annoyed Cotchin thought it wasn't important

DDT - we differ on this.. I think Cotch and all players have the right for their own legacy with their numbers..

I actually thought it was a silly idea from the beginning, i guess its a personal view..

Many years ago now, but I'm pretty sure the Collingwood Captain always wore No. 1, and the Vice Captain No. 2. Then they dropped it. Maybe in the 70's

I thought our idea was pretty good (great tribute to the greatest Tiger), and I was also disappointed in Cotch. Now I don't care much.

I was very pleased to see Vlastuin get number 1. But after reading your post ToO it would have been a perfect fit to hand over the 17 to one of our most determined and hardest players.
