Disagree, I like him just the way I is. A damn fine mop.

I'm with you, Tbar
Wouldn't mind seeing some occasional turns in the midfield, particularly if a little bit of grunt is required ... but I do like how he performs down back and how he goes about, as you say, mopping up around the packs etc.

Wait, people are seriously comparing Nick Vlastuin to Luke Hodge?

Seriously? Nick is a nice footballer but c'mon.

Yes we do tend to overate our own sometimes. Titch being compared to Cyril for gods sake! A 4 time premiership player, proven big game match winner and Norm Smith medalist against a bloke that has started playing some decent football in the last 2 seasons but has hardly had a touch in 3 finals appearances!

Hang on, we all know how this comparison thing works right?

Its rarely a literal, pound for pound scenario, especially for a young player versus an older player.

It's drip tray enthusiasm. About who a player reminds you of and what he could eventually be.

Shane is no Cyril, agree. Not sure I see the relevance of the last statement. Shane would have found it much easier playing in that Hawks team Saigon. Deledio and Richo have never won a Norm Smith either, but they probably would have had they played in a more successful side. No premiership player does it on their own. It takes an above average team.

Exactly! I've never understood the whole player by player comparison thing. It's so arbitrary

Are we trying to develop him though?

Seems we are happy for him to play in the backline forever as he is getting no exposure anywhere else.

Develop him how?

We may seem him as a long term back. Right now his trajectory is up as a quality backman and maybe that's ok.

Not everyone has to be a midfielder

No they don't, but Flossy has some midfield qualities Sin and is a great size (187cm and 87 kgs) for the modern footballer in that role.

Which we all agree we badly lack.

If he can add some value in that role that is a positive surely.

Love to see him get some exposure in that role while still young enough.

I think they may developing his leadership skills first. Personally, I think if they put him in the middle, he'd slot straight in, not too much development required for this young man.

Tigger is similar to Corey Enright. Enright couldn't break into the cats midfield after being drafted as a midfielder but became one of the Cats key players by controlling the backline. I am happy with Flossy to stay where he is.
