Maybe I expected too much but his lack of apparent development this year was disappointing.
Def needs too step up next season.

Changed his role n put him way deeper into the mid, reckon Flossy had a massive development year, just didn't look as cruisey as playing off half back. Doubt he's ever gunna be anywhere near the running machine of an Ellis, but he'll grunt the contest n get the ball to him.

Just has to get fitter and improve. If we are to move forward to be a top 4 team we need Nick to do an Ellis and take a huge step.

Nah, we need Flossy n Ty n Griff n Lennon n Madonna n Batch n a couple of others to each take another small step or two so we can spread the load off our best players a tad. Then we become a team capable of moving toward the top four.

Pace and endurance are the only weaknesses in Flossy's game. Everything else has the potential to make him a a top-shelf player.

They where the knocks on him and dusty when we got them. Dusty is carving himself a nice little neiche. But Dusty has more tricks up his sleeve. Flossy seems more solid and consistent. Hope he finds his own way of becoming a gun despite the weaknesses you mention. We need another top shelf player out of our up comers.

If Vlastuin develops into a reliable rebounding medium defender, he'll have done very well.

Anything more is a bonus.

If you're drafting a kid in the top 10 and that's all you get, you'd be disappointed imo. Greatly disappointed.

Lucky he wasn't a top 10 pick then.

I can see him becoming a hbf. Not cos he can't play mid but because he is a good mix of tough, class and poise and will help gel our backline.
Having said that I would like his energies go toward becoming a quality mid first.

He went pick 9. Or are you saying he shouldn't have?

I was under the impression that he played HBF in his under 18s year because he wasn't fully fit but he had played midfield the previous year, but I could be mistaken.

Ideally I'd like him to play 65% of the game on the ball, and then push back into defence for the other 35%.

Like a few young players on our list (Conca, McDonough etc.), simply needs a tank.

Failing that needs to work on his positioning, to ensure he's always in a good spot because his lack of footspeed is noticeable.

Flossy is a worry

He doesn't get enough of the ball, and he is not quick.

These are two significant problems.

Got a feeling way to many pumped his tyres n their egos up during his first year n when he didn't take over the comp this year have gone the usual doom scenario. Comfortable with what I've seen from Flossy so far, composed, big bodied player with good skills who thinks his way through the game. Just needs that couple more seasons of experience to become a bloody good player for us.

Yes, He will be a very good player for us.

IMO his future is in the guts. He is not ready yet but he will be so I suspect he will rotate off half back and on the ball.
