Nick Vlastuin

He hasn't been the same since he was green jacketed. I assume he's acrrying something

Had a shocker.
Not sure what's up but seriously was jogging around like a unfit headless chook for much of the afternoon.
Yes this is a big kick in the arse. I have seen him play far better than what he served up today.

I hope that burns in him during the pre season. He needs to get fitter and with this to be his 3rd preseason should make big inroads in the fitness stakes.

Why was he playing periods on the hff?!

Agree. Was awful today. With Jackson's retirement, 2015 is the year for him to step up. Needs a massive pre-season. Very disappointed with the latter part of his season.

Wasn't the only bloke jogging let me give you the hot tip, the lack of running was the most obvious disgraceful part of the day for me being at the ground. You would think they would want to put in effort I an elimination game but no jogging seemed ok to he majority of them. Laziness killed us today and lack of intensity. How that can happen in an elimination final. Have no idea, but I should should stop being surprised at what the world throws at me.

Conca and he have 20% improvement in them - if they are prepared to dig in and find it.

Massive pre-seasons are required for both of them

His decision making and kicking skills, which are his strength IMO, were well off today

Would explain it by being overwhelmed as it was a final but he was great early in last years final v the Blooze
I guess it was just Port's pressure (which got to a lot of the players today)

Thought he was so so for the whole year. Only year two though, but like many needs a big pre season.

Our blokes need to learn to run hard when we don't have the ball.

The laziness and lack of intensity was obvious watching on TV as well. They looked like they were bludging.

But Port is extremely quick which exacerbated our laziness and lack of pace. We really need to inject some pace into our list. We can't go much further with a list full of plodders like we currently have.

Probably also made to look even worse that, in hindsight, we had gone over the top after 9 wins in cut throat games. But definitely need more pace and players with better kicking ability.

Really rate this kid, but he needs a big step up in 2015. Has so much potential and really want him to reach it. If he can get his fitness up, I expect them to push him through the midfield next year more than this year.

Hoping 2014 was 2nd season syndrome (as I don't think he's gone forward this year) and he does what Ellis did in his 3rd year and really breakout.

Least of our worries. Not saying he was good today in fact totally *smile*. But like many 2nd year players a flat year. 2015 will be measure of his talent and commitment to professional football.

Doesn't run. We've got to start drafting players who can run. It's starting to get desperate.

2015 will be a massive year for Vlastuin.

I really think he will take the next step.

I would prefer he play a mix of midfield and forward - we know he can kick goals.

Agree. Good signs that he was starting the centre square at stages throughout the year. Had a few games where he was looking a genuine onballer I thought. Here's hoping that's the club's vision for him as his endurance base improves. Guys like him, Miles, Conca, McDonough etc. coming on next year will relieve the pressure on Cotch n co to win the inside ball. Can only be a good thing.

Needs to grow a big freaky beard though.

Agree also

He is one we NEED to step up into a regular midfielder. I have high hopes that next year will be his breakout season, along with conca

Agree this has to be his break out year, another pre season will do him wonders.

Don't see him as a bona fide midfielder. Just doesn't get enough of it. Fitness issue? Doesn't get to enough contests?

From memory he was never a ball magnet in junior footy and average less than 20 possies a game, but it was the intangibles qualities than made us want him, I think rather than his ball winning ability.

Needs to get much fitter. Often lets his man run off and get involved in the play, very mart with ball in hand, not so smart defensively.

If fitter should find more of the ball. I feel his output is somewhat pumped up on the strength of character.

Big year for him.

Vlastuin will be our Luke Hodge type.

Though I like him in the guts, I feel that if we look for an inside mid with 12 (and I think we just might) there's a solid chance Nick will provide much needed cover in the back half for the remainder of his career. He is hard as nails and a neat distributor.

Has morris, newmo and dea covered for this role.

Rance and Floss can be joint capitanos of the back line.
