I don't see Nick as having enough attacking strings to his bow General to be one of the comp's best half backs. Not blessed with the necessary speed for the modern game. Not a line breaker, not a particularly penetrating kick. Now we have seen he has little value as a mid/forward too. He's limited.
Don't get me wrong he's a solid enough B-C level player. I just think we need to look higher than that. He has some trade currency, though i'm not sure it's a lot.
If he moved on to gain us something of more value I'd be ok with that.
I find these comments a bit perplexing. Did you watch him in the first qtr last Sat? He was giving great drive off HB, he is quicker than you think and his foot-passes were exceptional. We really missed his courage and skills in the 2nd half when the Doggies took control. He is an important member of our best 22 and should not be traded under any circumstances. There are many that should be off-loaded but not him.

Yes and people talk about him being a future captain - a highly underrated player

Flossy's first quarter was flippin' the bird at experiments.

He was brave, polished and precise.

Perhaps his run up forward has improved his backline play?

He actually didn't seem to get much time on the ball, he was playing more as a permanent forward.

Yep we didn't, JB. Would've liked to have seen more a few seasons back but I feel his best position is now set in stone.

He's a very talented player but he seems not to be able to keep up the intensity for a full game. I believe he doesn't have the tank and this has to be why he's also been only given short midfield stints.

Out for 3-4 weeks with a fractured scapula.

I think that's a fair result, Tommy. An AC tear/rupture can be a very long recovery. Prefer the three to four football department weeks any day. (Six to twelve human weeks.)

Depends on the degree of separation of the AC joint and if any fracture is involved.

Here's my thinking on the preference for scapula fracture over AC tear, craig-

First, I'm taking as true the three to four weeks. Coz that's all I've got.

When Flossy went down he was picked off. Hit very hard when running off balance (by the lurking Suckling, after Floss's blind turn in traffic) and that shoulder hit the dirt very hard.

The commentators went AC. I couldn't guess. Vlastuin got up very sore and went straight off. It was some kind of shoulder. And it looked very nasty.

With an AC 3-4 weeks suggests to me that it's half right when he comes back and he'll be doting on it and restricted in movement. Perhaps for the rest of the year. If it were a pissant AC he'd just strap it and play. Miss none. Just play anyway.

My reasoning is that with a fracture it would have to be pretty minor to come back in three weeks. But be right. That they won't take the risk on a fracture. And it's not like they're frightened to get an image. It'll be healed.

The reason I'm particularly hopeful that Vlastuin will recover well within a month is that I think he's close to levelling up*. And a nagging AC will be a significant obstacle to that. OTOH a clean bill of health in a month might be a freshener as much as an obstacle. Better chance with a minor fracture is my guesstimate.

Hopeful.

*I've been wrong about this five times before.

3 to 4 weeks eh, think it might be a bit longer. When I had a hairline fracture of my wrist it was in plaster for 6 weeks. Even if he misses 4 weeks that will take him to Round 12 when we have the bye, so I reckon they'll wait until the game after the bye which is v. Sydney on June 17.

In the words of Butch Gale..."I predicted this"...minimum length of recovery!" ;D In fact going to take a bit longer.
Clubs err on a shorter time to keep supporters hopes up.

Floss come back so we can push K mac to the chf position and use the 18th position on the ground.

Not convinced.

Backline has been performing fine without him. In terms of hb's, Conca was even having the better year in a similar role and I'm no massive fan.

HB who averages 10-15 disposals a game and can't play midfield or forward

We miss Conca as well
