Can I ask why do the Tigers name him on the ball virtually every Thursday night? Who are they trying to fool, the opposition?

I'm guessing they just cut and paste from the week before.

A big bodied mid is what we desperately need and we might have one right under our noses. Just find out if he can play the position or not.

Rules are rules.
All first round draft picks play on the flanks.

Nick is a gun but I don't believe he's in a position where he can show what he's truly made of.

He had a fantastic midfield performance against Brisbane and everyone was frothing, so calm on the footy, a good disposal and big hits don't seem to bother him at all. Give him another crack in the guts!

That came against west coast in 2013 @ subi sticks in my mind. Play him on the ball.

Was decent. Hardwick missed another opportunity to play him in midfield.

What an absurd call by the umpire when mccartney did his shoulder crashing into floss. Was such a fundamemtally basic wrong decision by the umpire.

Terrible decision based solely in the fact that Mccartin hurt himself!

Struggling to find a reason to defend this bloke.

Constantly lead to the ball, doesn't matter if he plays tall or small. So slow.

So disappointing for a top 10 pick.

Has been perennially overrated by many here. His midfield potential has been completely overstated. Very reactionary footballer.

Is there anyone on here who can defend the coaching staff not playing him in the midfield.

Even if he doesnt make it there, surely given the promising signs early in the year, our crucial need for a classy big body and the fact he's going backwards by the week in defence means it had to be given an extended run.

Sin, Brodders, Baloo...anyone!!!!

And the last 2 games when the season is gone is the ideal opportunity to give him a go there and see if we've got something to work with in that direction over the off season, so naturally we don't even explore the idea.

Think that question will require Mappa levels of brightsiderism.

If Vlastuin is going to reach his potential then he will have to ask for a trade. He wont get there under Hardwicks coaching and we probably have two more years of that

I have already said in an earlier thread that I want him on the midfield so no I can't defend it. The only think that I can think of is that we have had a lot of injuries to small and medium backs in Houli, Morris, Yarran, McIntosh but that's not a good reason imo, especially since the season was gone.

Realise that Sin.

But it's not as is we're playing for sheep stations ATM.

Surely the benefit of potentially finding that big midfielder weighs well ahead of trying to plug a gap in the backline with a player losing confidence by the week.

BTW this was our illustrious coach in June:

“We’ve always sort of wanted to give him the opportunity to play (in the midfield). With Trent (Cotchin) being out, and probably our midfield being a little bit light at the moment, it was an opportunity to see how he went,” Hardwick said.

“He was pretty good early, but it’s one of those experiments that’s going to take a little bit of time to see the long-term benefits of it.

“It’s a different kettle of fish playing midfield as compared to down back. But I thought he showed some really good signs.

“He’s incredibly clean, tough. I enjoy what he gave us tonight (Friday night).

“He’ll only get better for the run . . .”

Hasnt been seen there since.

And it's sure going to take him longer now to transform into a midfielder Dimmer.
