Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Might have been Axel's best game for a while, but I remain unconvinced that he is a part of a successful future.
That said, I believe he has a two-year contract under his belt.

Foley will be another perfect example why we cannot make players go the next level at this club.

We will delist him and another club will snap him up and bring him to the level he should be.

You are kidding aren't U? he is all washed up. He may have got 27 possessions but too many times his kicks dont hit a target. Unfortunately we have given him another year.

Yet we reward the mediocrity of many others that do not put the effort into the matchday as Axel. We will be picking Grigg, Houli, Conca, Pettard, Edwards etc even when they playing poorly but Axel coming back well from a potential game finishing injury is working his socks off to get back to near his best is considered washed up?

This bloke hasn't hit a target in 6 years,
Another who showed so much but will end out exactly like some many before him.

Did OK today and it would have been even better if Hampson had put his hands together round the ball when gifted a pass in front of the posts. Getting a pass to stick when we have wooden lumps like Hampson and co who have no idea how to present or lead would take a miracle worker

True. But when foley first started he was a gun, I reckon in 97-98 he was better then Cotchin in 2012, but like always we get a good year or two and they turn into bananas. Look at Cotchin, I can't watch that chip and go *smile*. Nahas kicks further then Cotchin.
It's just hard watching talented kids turn to *smile*

Can't believe the knock on Foley this year. An excellent come back from long term injury and still able to put a gap in many mids when he hits the afterburners. Still love ya Axel.

Yep, showing signs there may be life in those little legs yet. Wasn't expecting him to cover the ground as well as that so am pleased for him.

Foley has always been a champion, just an injury plagued one, still better than most at the club and derseves to go around again, one of the few that kept the home fires burning over the last 10 years

Problem is he doesnt hurt the opposition when he has the ball. For a midfielder this is the problem.

Stuck by him when people said he was finished.

Won't win you games anymore but he's good midfield depth. Keep him on the list.

He does at least go forward and looks to go down the middle, which surprises the opposition because it's not what they expect from Richmond. Maybe he can drag a few with him and he is actively attempting to score.

Yep. If stays fit he will continue to improve. The way he is going more than happy to have him around in 2015.

You nailed it
Foley is our only effective attacking midfielder and injury has hampered him
Foley and Miles have been our best MF in the last two weeks.
Foley has ran out of condition in the two games ,but is getting fitter
Without these two guys we would have been thumped in the last two games
Axel is a needed player at PRO
It's disgraceful people are picking on a guy who has had an interrupted two seasons
A lack of line breaking mids with a conservative game plan has been our Achilles heal under Hardwick

Nathan mightn't have the high stats of some but his possessions count. Had the most inside 50s, taking the game on rather than dinky little touches on the half back line. Wish they all had his determination and attitude. Loved it when he went for a run and bounce. Keep on improving Nathan. Great to have you back out there.
