Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Out of favour because he won't follow softwicks game plan, only knows how to break lines and kick it long, not sideways, backwards and stupid little handpasses to a player surrounded by the opposition, A tad slower these days but still one of our best midfielders

Just refuses to give him a chance

Yes that was the problem with Matty White too, it wasn't in the game plan to take the game on by running through the lines. The game plan is to go sideways, and give little give and goes so that the opposition further down field has time to man up, or double team Jack.

It must be hard for Nathan being treated this way. Similar to Whitey. Two players with real G&D who always give 100% but are treated with a bit of contempt. Pity if Nathan's body is letting him down a bit after all the work he's put in. I can't help but wonder how much better he'd be if he was feeling more valued and could play with confidence and positivity.

Agree Rosy confidence is such a wonderful thing which sadly seems to be lacking amongst a few of the boys ATM
And you're right to feel valued and have the confidence to break the line and take the game on it's just
All gone.... Nathan's body is still willing and able to play at the top level he would definitely be struggling
In match fitness to play out a full game tho..but you can't get march fitness when you start as sub every week

If he is one of our best midfielders Tassie then we are in trouble. Nathan should have been moved on to GWS when he had some trade value. As Axel has said in the line before, all he is now is a list clogger. And for another 1 or 2 years. OMFG

Should've been retired along with Newman and King last season. Can't believe we re-signed him off the achilles for 3 years. A shadow of what he once was.

I think Foley was serviceable tonight. Let him be, he is not the problem.

Foley will be another perfect example why we cannot make players go the next level at this club.

We will delist him and another club will snap him up and bring him to the level he should be.

Thought Axel did OK tonight. Some nice line breaking in the first half. Still not at his best but nowhere near the worst on the park tonight. Needs a continuous run in the 1sts to help he return to near his best. The team collectively forgot to come out of the rooms for the second half

Can't blame Foley, but you can surely blame the bloke making the decisions in list management.
He was the perfect player 3-4 years ago to get you a very high pick, but they kept him till he is virtually worthless today

Easily his best game of the year and now showing the old Axel is not far away. 27 disposals and 7 tackles sounds good to me. The continued run in the 1sts is paying dividends for him

On his recent showing I'd give him another year, hopefully they won't do the same with Newman and King, because they don't deserve it, Foley does.

That's it.

He does something that a lot of his team mates don't. Whenever he gets the ball he's always looking to drive it directly forward. It tends to help score goals. Who knew?
