Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

I hope he is look Boomer at NTH and retains his pace in his twilight years, still only 28.

Lids has pumped Axel's tyres saying he's moving well this preseason and has been training really hard after being left out of the team for the EF last season.
There's plenty of competition for spots but Nathan will be thereabouts and keep everyone honest.

Showed some very re assuring signs last night. Bit of zip.. Bit of run and carry.. Some great clearance work... Going to be like a new pick up

Agree Foley looked in good nick and finally fingers crossed finally we get him back at where he was and that was a damaging mid.

Is he in our best 22?

Not so sure.

Not after yesterday's game. His field kicking reminds me of us playing under Wallace.
The kids are priority (if they're good enough) I can't see how he gets a game.
He was useless yesterday

He's going to get plenty of competition from Ellis Arnott Lloyd Miles & McDonough. But he's got the experience to do the job. Jake and Newy would be in the same boat. The more guys we have playing their best footy, the better things are for the club. Good luck lads.

Conca, Foley, Miles and Thomas are 4 one-dimensional inside mids. If they play half-forward, half-back or wing they really don't give you much compared to what they offer as inside clearance players.
You rarely see a quality team play 3 of these in one game.

Conca is the class of this batch and will be the engine room in our midfield. Foley and Miles will tussle for that bench spot who gives Conca a break. But if either of those guys don't perform then they will quickly get tugged and we will likely role Lids or Martin through the midfield more and a McDonough, Petterd, Miles etc. Gets added to an outside role in the team.

Foley's inability to break lines since his injuries puts enormous pressure on his spot but I would expect him to get 1st shot at that back-up inside mid role over Miles who is certainly putting the pressure on him.

I expected he'd make an impact when he came on. He didn't. Crossroads.
interestingly, stats say he had 9 possies - i would ve guessed 2 or 3.

Cant really blame him he came on pretty late, but agree he is at the crossroads. Should either start next week or go back to reserves.

Foley should have been subbed on much earlier, sometime mid-way in the third quarter.
But still not convinced if having in the 22 improves the team.
