Looked slow and possessions were largely ineffectual - quick kicks and hurried handballs from packs. The major issue is that he has lost that spark and pace he had at his peak. Can he get it back? Hope so as the other option means he won't be in our best 22.

Hurried handball from packs inneffectual? You mean contested possessions, winning your own ball when no-one else could? Ive heard it all. The instruction to him would have been make contested ball a priority because we were getting smashed at the time.
Suggest you watch the replay closely

Lost all his explosiveness. What a tragedy.

Lost all his confidence. He is in the coach's hands. Needs good ground time to develop confidence again, or he will be shot

No doubt he was having a crack but I agree his hands were poor. Too much pressure placed on the receiver.

Don't want too pot the old fella but I would rather Knights in infront of Axe at this point.....I'm not unhappy for him to play next week but not as sub, otherwise full game at VFL

True the numbers stack up but I'd have to watch the 4th again to see if his 10 disposals helped or not
It want his fault we threw away a 6 goal lead

Well his last one was pretty handy, gathering a pack spill with 20 seconds to go and one goal up, release Thomas kick to Dusty, goal.

If it was Murphy crumb, release Yarran, kick to Waite goal we'd be a tad unhappier this evening.

11 possessions in a quarter (including 4 contested) and some still whinge.

He's going at 40 possessions a game with his half of footy this year.

Doing the job he was asked to do.

As you say lambskin, he did what he was asked. He could probably play the sub role for another week, but after that he'll need some footy. With Jacko and possibly Knights back next week, he might get a full game in the VFL.

Axel worked hard as usual but he is no sub. I would like to see him get a full game and next week would be a good time. That way we could see if he still has it in a more open game. Bringing him on when we are in deep trouble doesn't give him a chance to shine as all it is grind and grunt time

Unless he can break a line, that will be his role.

Foley no longer has burst speed and is not impacting matches. His influence is now minimal at best. This is sad as Axel pre-injury was explosive, dangerous and great to watch. Unfortunately he is now a list clogger and if Richmond is truly to progress to the next level, sentiment has to be bypassed and a tough call made re his future sooner rather than later. If Axel realises this within himself he should do the right thing by the club and initiate the discussion.

He won't have to anything, the club will do it for him.
Wallace screwed him rushing him back to play in Brisbane against Adelaide. That re-injury destroyed his career.

Could wallace override the medicos? Not sure about laying the blame with him

By the way this judgement is being made on 2 quarters of footy this year.

Dont count the VFL game Satdy - in recent years i have watched Matt White and Jay Schulz struggle with playing at a dis-jointed Coburg.

Axel deserves two full games before being Axeled..

I would play foley ahead of king, Newman, Houli & Grigg.

Why keep a bloke on the list if you think he isn't good enough to play in your side.
We keep players till they start to rot. Could've traded him 3 years ago.

i have no doubt axel has lost his pace and line breaking abilities, so i understand why he isn't being picked. but i agree he deserves a game ahead of newman and grigg at least

Cretainly not ahead of Houli.

In our R21 loss to Carlton last year, our first goal came after a characteristic Foley burst from half back. Andrew Walker, who is bloody quick, couldn't run him down. Sadly, that's the only incidence of the old Nugget I can recall in the past couple of years. If he can rediscover that, we'll all be thrilled. If he can't, he'll play a lot of VFL.
