Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Big fan of Axel but if he is 4 to 6 weeks away from real match fitness then surely he should be in the 2nd's and build up there before playing AFL? There are some kids in the 2nd's that right now may have more to offer us.

Possibly but reading the Coburg posts doesnt give me much confidence... I'd persevere and see how he improves week to week.

Your being very generous. His problem might be match fitness. But His real problem has been with him since the day he started, his field kicking is dismal. He refuses to kick and his touch has been all over the place.
Back to the 2nds till he can find some form otherwise see ya later.
Can't hold on to players that don't want to kick a ball. He had 3 chances last night to release with a kick and choose to handball every time to a teammate under pressure.

Remember Flossy wasn't supposed to be that good at Coburg but see him go in AFL. Now living overseas I don't see Coburg games and have to rely on reports. Being the eternal optimist I would like to see some of our kids given a go as they can't do worse that the rubbish dished up yesterday

I hear ya bro

Make the hard call and trade Foley whilst he still has some currency and before he breaks down again. Trade with GWS/GC. Players are coasting and its all too comfortable there is no fear factor with the coach.

I thought Foley played well tonight, slowly working his way back but showed glimpses of what he is capable off, could have a huge 2nd half of the year.

Was ok. Far off his 08 form.

But much improved and surely a good sign for us that he could soon be back to that '08 level. It's great to have that additional midfield depth.

Getting better by the week.If he stay's fit he could be a secret weapon in the second half of the season.

He got good stats tonight and just enjoying watching him play better every week. A couple of sprints tonight showed the speed is starting to come back. Still a hard tackler as well.
Still not at his best but its coming!

He looked like the old Foley tonight. Saw a few little glimpses late last week.

Now with Axel back and Conca and Ellis are added against Adelaide who will stop our midfield??

Got very telling touches tonight working his way back well. We should go ok when he's back near full output

Massive step forward last night from Foley. He showed glimpses of why he is so important to our team.

Huge game from Axel. Definitely on the way back. He should hit top form at about the same time as Conca does, nice prospect.
