Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Thought he got better with every second yesterday. He brings back that level of intensity that with the return of Cotch, Grimes and Conca will see us back at last years level and ready to smash the ptides out of the bombouts.

13 d 5 m in a half was a solid come back. His impact around stoppages was instant. If Axle can play the next 100 games uninterrupted, we will be a substantially better as a team.

As it worked out, he got more of a game than a sub generally expects. He got through okay and played alright, should start in the ground against Melbourne. It probably won't feel that much different to playing a VFL side anyway.

agree full game against Melb so he is better primed for the Ess game where he will be required.

Hope Grimes and Cotchin are right for the bombers also and they will also need to manage Maric carefully for the bombers - if he goes in half cooked they will exploit him big time. I would rest all 3 next week.

The last time we rested players thinking we were in for an easy win was against GCS last year.

We all know how well that went. :-X

Agree - its risky business - plan should be to play the best fit 22 - not sure Maric is in the best fit category at the moment, and given Stephenson played so well yesterday, I reckon he and Vicks could manage the ruck duties - and we managed to beat Port without Cotchin and Grimes so I don't think its too risky. Melb are missing some key players - their 2 co captains, Clark (e?) and one other key tall?

I saw a lot to like about Foley's comeback game last week........I'm really looking forward to him improving further this week.

With Tucky out it will be really good to have Axel diving under the packs for the hard ball.

Axle can be Grigg like in his defensive efforts terrible chasing and tackling but obviously going the other will be an asset to our deep midfield

Funny, the thing I noticed was he couldn't run, just jogged. Got concerns that he'll ever get back to the old Axel.

Sure you have the right Axle there?

Averaged 5.5 tackles a game in 2011 and 5.8 tackles a game in 2012.
