Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Massive step forward last night from Foley. He showed glimpses of why he is so important to our team.

Agree Smokey he is massively important.
We were on fire in the first half of last year with Axe making a big difference. He was injured in the fine win against the Saints from memory and we struggled from then on.
Great to see him have an impact last night. Hopefully we start flying again over the back half of the year.

It was great to see the burst and bounce out of the middle. He now has 2 weeks to freshen up for what will be the most important second half of home and away matchs of his career.

Just like his comeback from his last injury stint, it took Foley a few weeks to finf his fitness and pace of the game. Then he started blitzing again. He's a super important player for us.

Foley makes me sad. Really, he is an out and out star. He could have had an identical career to boomer Harvey, were it not for several plagues upon his house.

The way he breaks from packs, and the way he delivers the ball, he is a genuine A grade rover. On top of that, he is a clearance specialist. He does not shirk a contest, has quick hands, and great vision in congestion. Very few are such a talented mix of inside and outside prowess.

But for the grace of god, he could already have been recognised as a great of the game. O that this too too feeble flesh would not have melted during his prime.

At least we have him back now. Lets go for five uninterrupted years of greatness.

It's easy to forget that a few year's back Axel was our best midfielder.

Not for me oldie. Not back to his best yet, but showed last night its just a matter of time.

At his best, he was kicking goals running through the middle. Perhaps not exactly the same goal kicking ability as boomer, but his inside work is better.

Also Axel doesn't cheat like Boomer does. Runs back hard and often our Nate.

How good was that passage of play when he took a handball off dusty I think, and in a split second had boot to ball and chipped it perfectly to King ( i think??) for a set shot. Lightning quick skills. Sorry if I got the other players wrong, haven't seen a replay and relying on my very questionable memory.

Yes it is. About a goal every four games for Foley, 1.2 goals a game for Harvey.

The kick was definitely to King. Brilliant.

Was certainly great to see glimpses of the player he was before he was Wallaced. Looking forward to continual improvement.

He is a little gem. Close to my favourite player. He must work so hard as I remember when he came from injury last year he had lost nothing and was in close to career best form for 10 odd games. Looks like he will get close to that level again.

Please allow him a good run with injury. If anyone deserves it Nathan does.

We suffered when he went out with injury last year - was easily his best last night since his return and I hope he just continues to improve and get more confidence from being to able to stay on the park.

He looked like the old Foley tonight. Saw a few little glimpses late last week.

Now with Axel back and Conca and Ellis are added against Adelaide who will stop our midfield??

Agree, Lambchops.

I thought Axel's kicking against WCE was close to career best form. He threaded the needle several times in very heavy traffic. A bit surprising that it's come on so soon but very welcome.
