Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

A fit Axe is near top shelf. A lot are blinded by the newer models but at his best he's a beauty. He's been the forgotten man but if he can get back near that form it's a massive inclusion in our midfield.
So happy to see him back and playing.

Reckon the freshen up has come at a perfect time for him.

Has had a good block of 8 games coming back from a year off & you can notice his body getting stronger of late.

A nice break up from the contact of a game, a further week on the weights & he'll be well placed for the formline to really continue building.

And Dimma, no more using him to tag 191cm 95 keg midfielders please.

Spot on.

And geez I like seeing Axel put in those quick steps coming out of the centre. Second favourite sight now to a Vlaustin blind turn.

His possession count has increased with every game

Shame we have the bye coming up.
Getting better with each game and though against the eagles was starting to hit his straps.

Article on the AFL site indicates Axe completely snapped his achilles in July last year. Hadn't realised it was that bad.
After previous problems it's quite a remarkable effort just to get back to playing senior football let alone making an impact.
Full credit to him and importantly our medical staff and the 3G. Good to see some supporter funding making a genuine difference to a respected Tiger's career.
Club is going to release a doco highlighting the journey of his recovery.

His improvement in recent weeks has been particularly noticeable :clap

Keep it up Nathan.

With Tuck, Conca, Ellis and Grimes all due to come back - the team selection process will (finally) become competitive. 8-

i get shivers whenever i see this thread up the top of the page. the "oh no, whats happened" feeling!

He is a very pivotal part of our midfield. Will just appreciate him even more in the second half of the season once he has his full fitness back.

Just another congrats to Axel for getting back, we all know it is a hard road back from a major injury
but seeing the size difference in his legs really hits home just how hard it is

Bloody top effort Nath :clap

and thanks to anyone who has contributed to the club, be it membership, FTF, player sponsor etc.
cause be having state of the art facilities and equipment has made it just that little bit easier for Nath (and all our players) to come back

:clap

Edit: forgot to mention there is a video on the RFC website bout his recovery

Well worth checking out too.

Have a look at how much muscle he lost from his leg during his recovery - wow!

Just love him. :hearton

Provides a nitro burst around the packs.

Not just in the break aways.

So often he will skirt the back of the pack and give to the fat side. Not many players have the poise, physical speed and mental speed to do this.

A great player and I'm so happy he's back.

Get around him, Axel is back!

25 Disposals, 13 contested, 8 tackles, 8 clearances, 6 Inside 50's, 2 Goal assists in 75% Tog...... awesome game.
The 6 Clangers...is the only blemish.

The old Axel is back. We are a much better midfield for his return.

fumbled a few, still lacks a little touch I thought.

but you can't have everything ;D

Agree, still lacks the touch and sure hands of past years but its going in the right direction.

Could be a real weapon in September.

Fair recruit.

Midfield starting to look fairly ominous with Nate back on track. Gives us the luxury of using someone like Lids off HB like we did in the1st half.
