Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

A news article on the afl app stated mcguane thought foley would play a half this week; but the club medics might want to be more conservative

Pfft. Medics!
McGuane knows what's best, let Foley play this week. ;)

if axle can come good at about rd 10, this injury might be a blessing in disguise as he'll start firing when others start to slow.

With Axel's type of injuries, I wouldn't mind seeing him as the sub all season and then full games in the finals

As Nathan's proud PREsident I'm happy to confirm he's about to be eased back gently through Coburg in the next week or two. He's virtually pain free, which is awesome news, and thus able to train beautifully. The medical team have been fantastic. Very exciting news. :D

Great news rosy. fingers and toes crossed that it all goes well. A fit Foley could be the difference in us making the finals.

Great news. We really miss him around the clearances. Things even just like the fact a few of our midfield aren't capable at clearances do its forced Edwards to spend most of his time in there and that's why he has 0 goals at the moment. Kicked 29 odd last season.

Shame he probably won't be back for Collingwood, Geelong and Freo because that's when we will really need him.

I think it's a good idea to ease him back in via Coburg. The side has the depth that now allows us to do this rather than rush him back without proper preparation and risk a recurrence or loss of confidence.

Always been one of my favourites since watching him rack up big numbers at Coburg. Achilles can be notorious for releapses and long recovery periods so hopefully he is finally truly healed.

Fantastic news Rosy. A fully fit and injury free, Foley will be a very important addition to the midfield. Particularly his pace and ability to burst from the centre breaks. Hopefully, he can re-find some of that form from was it 2005 or 2006 (?) when he and Troy Simmonds were in AA form.

Lucky we have the luxury to give him plenty of time at Coburg to recover from injury and find form. On that note, is there space for any non listed Richmond players in the Coburg team at the moment? :hihi

We really missed him last year when he missed the back half of the season (along with Grimes).

I would much rather him play and be fit from rounds 12 to 26 than rush him back early, particularly when teams like Norf and Carl could be making a late run for the 8.

Watching Adam Schneider get 13 touches in a bit over a quarter against us is a guide to how influential an experienced player with a turn of speed can be as a substitute.

We could have 44 players available

Last week we had 4 down
Arnott missed with a 1 week suspension along with Lonergan Astbury Foley.
So foley is back, Arnott is back, and Astbury is a test.
Any news on Lonergan?

Loggers is our hidden gem. Not far away

Unquote.
I like the sound of most of that. Am a bit concerned that Axel is 'virtually pain free' as we want him fully fit and not risk a breakdown because he is so valuable to the tigers aspirations. Can't wait to see him on the park again

I wouldn't read too much into that. I doubt too many footballers would be entirely pain free. My info is that Nathan is feeling great and rearing to go. My opinion is that there would probably be a degree of pain as body parts which have been traumatised and not used for a long time could take a bit to adjust. Nathan has had a big layoff. He'd be rapt with the way he's feels, the positive medical reports, the fact he's able to train flat out, hasn't lost his pace and is very close to actually playing again. Don't think he has too many issues at this stage.

Age reporting Hardwick thinks Foley will resume via Coburg next week and Astbury is about ready to resume also.

We must have a full list to choose from - can't remember this happening that often before - long may it last.

There's been plenty of times in the past when we've had a near full list of players to pick from, difference then was most of 'em weren't much good

This year could be, hopefully, the reverse of last year for Nath. Comes back mid year and has a great second half season. Fingers crossed
