Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

I wouldn't bet too much on the inside info you mentioned. Nathan was given the chance to come good and had until Thursday to decide. The decision wasn't made a few days ago as your source told you.

Ok hero.
That was about last weeks game anyway.

Up until Tuesday that was what's happening....I was very surprised that he'll play this week.

I read that Foley trained today and is up for selection. With Jack likely to play as well I'm worried that we are taking a short term approach with two of our guns. Geelong managed their players really well last year. And Dane Swan this year and last has played ripping footy coming back from a rest.

Fear not. Seems axel is rested

Our depth is being tested because we are now copping some injuries to first 22 players. Up until now, it seems to have been depth or developing players outside our best 22.

Our big problem is a couple of players I am sure we'd like to get games into, like Arnot and Helbig, aren't available.

Massively missed. We need to find another two Foley types. Clearance footballers with pace.

With the bye, it will be a three week layoff and with it being GWS this week, I think it is the right move resting him another week.

We should be able to get say a Devon Smith clone or two with one of our picks this year Scoop you'd (hope) think.

Just showed how much we still require in our midfield though when Foley misses & Lids is held. Theres' also little currently underneath.

Like I have said in the past our midfield depth is still one of the worst in the AFL.

Helbigs and Arnotts injuries havent helped. It would have been a perfect opporunity for one of them to have come in and replace Foley.

And the lock down of Deledio should have alarm bells ringing even louder to our recruiters that we desparetley need more outside run.

Re: Nathan Foley

It's become apparent that Axel is of more value to the team than he's recognised for alongside some of his more glam midfielders.
Hopefully fully refreshed and comes back hard after the break.

We really miss him out there.

Very true TOO.

Re: Nathan Foley

Axel Foley is one of our few players, maybe our only one, who is a toff in the wet. A mudlark. We've missed him doubly.

Re: Nathan Foley

Just hope he gets that new contract signed sooner rather than later. A vital cog both this year and beyond.

Re: Nathan Foley

How much he's been missed the last couple of weeks will encourage the club to give him a decent deal, so that they can retain him.

Re: Nathan Foley

Given that Dimma likened Foley's return from long-term injury to gaining another first round draft pick, I'd say the club has been all too well aware of Foley's worth.

Agree. I think Foley is our 3rd most important midfielder.

No disrespect to Martin, but I am sick of hearing all media-folk and anyone else who has an opinion of Richmond, mention Cotchin, Deledio and Martin as our so called "stars". IMO Martin is well behind Foley on 2012 form (and behind Grigg too). Cotchin and Deledio are really our only A-graders playing in the midfield at the moment. Hopefully Dusty will get there, but at the moment shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as the other 2.

On Foley his disposal can let him down a bit, but his run and carry (with his confidence back on his leg), cannot be underestimated.
