Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Re: Nathan Foley

Always backed the little bloke. He's a ripper on and off the field.

Re: Nathan Foley

Close to signing a new deal

Craig Cameron last night indicated the club was close to re-signing Foley, too.

''We expect to have something on Nathan soon,'' he said

great. This has been my only real concern this season. He's the type of player Sheedy loves.

How much he's been missed the last couple of weeks will encourage the club to give him a decent deal, so that they can retain him.

Nathan is in hopes of a 3 year deal, making him a Tiger till he's 30. I hope his latest injury doesn't affect his bargaining position.

I read that Foley trained today and is up for selection. With Jack likely to play as well I'm worried that we are taking a short term approach with two of our guns. Geelong managed their players really well last year. And Dane Swan this year and last has played ripping footy coming back from a rest.

I should be more worried about when is he coming back not that they are bringing him back too early. I hope it is next week.

He doesn't have an Achilles problem, as soft as it sounds it is a bruising problem.
I don't know if you noticed but in most games this year he would start really well and then in the second half of games would really fade out.
Longer the game went the more sore it was.

Axle not named this week. We really miss his run and carry from stoppages, he's underrated and very important to our midfield setup.

With Foley out that means our midfield group has little room for error. Can't have one of Cotchin Lids or Martin having a quite game, throw in Grigg and Tuck. If one of our big 3 do, we are going to get belted

Yep. I mentioned that a while ago.

In regard to his injury the good news is it's not related to his past achilles problems. He has a bursa on the bottom of his foot which is quite painful making it hard for him to run full games out. ........

Technically it's not bruising, I was trying to generalize.

Ouch. I've had a hip bursa. Debilitating for the time I had it.
About 6 weeks recovery from memory but didn't have the medical assistance Axe will.
Cheers for the info. :fing32

Re: Nathan Foley

Hope he stays & am sure he will but it certainly should effect his contract.

Agree. Being injury prone, I would have game played bonuses worked into the deal.

Bigtime, very uderrated. Has been a very big loss to our midfield. He can do it all (extract, evade, elite hands, burst and speed). With Conca dropped (baffling) our midfield is really under-strength. Can't see us winning this game and in-turn there probably goes our chance for finals. :'(

GO TIGES!!!
