Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Re: Nathan Foley

I have a bit of news to pass on about Nathan.

In regard to his contract he's still in negotiations with the club, mainly about how many years it should be for. I think he wants to be a one club player which 2-3 years would pretty much ensure. I'm confident he'll still be a Tiger next year. :D

In regard to his injury the good news is it's not related to his past achilles problems. He has a bursa on the bottom of his foot which is quite painful making it hard for him to run full games out. He is still a chance of playing this week depending how it's going in the next couple of days. It's improving but they won't take any risks if he isn't fit. Glad it's not a serious structural problem.

Eat 'em Alive Nathan.

Re: Nathan Foley

Missed Axel big time. Is a little under-valued with some of our supporters; always talk of Cotch, Martin & Deledio and Foley is left out of praise when talking of our midfield. He has it all as a midfielder; in and under, quick hands, evasion, speed, run & carry; just a bit hit and miss with his kicking but a very important player. Probably our equal 2nd best midfielder behind Cotch right now; hopefully Dusty will overtake soon once he gets his tank up and gains more experience with games. Just highlighted our lack of midfield depth when he missed on Saturday; was very noticable. We must get the best mid available with our first pick in the upcoming draft.

GO TIGES!!!

Re: Nathan Foley

Would have been very happy to have lost him to GC or GWS before seeing his value to the team this year. Hopefully back after the bye.

I wouldn't bet too much on the inside info you mentioned. Nathan was given the chance to come good and had until Thursday to decide. The decision wasn't made a few days ago as your source told you.

Re: Nathan Foley

I honestly wouldn't play him if it's touch and go this week especially given his history. Too important. If it's a last minute sort of decision it sounds touch and go. Others might disagree. We can't beat GWS without him and Riewoldt then honestly it just says we aren't ready for finals anyways.
