Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

His first goal should just about be goal of the year.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

This guy a classic case of a REAL FOOTBALLER - not one with a "great potential upside".

Need many many more like him - kids who have had a footy in their hands all their lives. Can't run 100m in 11secs or jump tall buildings in a single bound, but can GET THE BALL - and USE IT.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

I didn't think he'd make it a couple of seasons back when he had that tendency to dive on the football but boy was I wrong. Come a long way since then and has become a gun.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

He is a real footballer and he can run 100m in very quick time.

Voss gave him a big wrap tonight. He said that Foley zig-zagged a bit in the first few rounds, but is now backing himself and running through the lines. There won't be many players catch him this year.

That first goal was a classic and will get a mention in the goal of the year nominations.

I said to the missus in the first half that he is fast becoming my favourite player for the Tiges. I'd love to see him carry on this form and sneak into the All-Australian team.

Agree 100%. He is a great gun and is a thrill to watch.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

HUGE season for Foley. Maybe not AA but certainly B&F by an absolute street. It *smile* me that there are about 12 blokes that were out there tonight with far more "potential" but yet to show the same heart and desire as Foley. If every player on our team worked on their game as much as Foley does then we would be in the finals rather than talking about tanking.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

He just continues to take steps. Goalkicking hasn't been a big feature of his game but both goals were long kicks after a bit of a run.

Bulldust!! Wouldn't be 12 players in the league with more potential than Nathan. I'd like to see the plethora of players who can

(a) read the ball and get to it before anyone else;
(b) Have magicaly clean hands with the heat on
(c) find a way to get either himself or the ball out of traffic under extreme pressure;
(b) pick the best option and hit it by hand or foot;

and (e) to (z) find the pill at will, be number 1 in clearances and top 10 in most other midfield categories, burn off opponents with disdain and kick goals from 50 (I wonder where are all the he's slow - cant kick Cassandras are now???)

Credit to Nathan - works hard - got rid of the puppy fat this year and works at improving his game like a pro - but he had the raw materials as an out of the box pure football talent - really hard to teach vision and instinct - add desire, skill and speed to that and you have Nathan Foley

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

Great Desire to succeed , Huge heart , these are the intangables that make or break most league players.
Foley shows plenty of both , just keeps going , that's what you've got to love about this Bloke.

Good ol' fashion type footballer..............alway's a place for that type in the game of Footy.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

I thought Foley looked like Judd the way he played last night. Those goals were fantastic. :clap

:cutelaugh that would be scary

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

When he kicked that first goal on the run, it was the first time in a looong time I yelled "You are a champion!" to a Richmond player.

This guy is fantastic and embodies everything that I want to see in a football player. Hardness, pace, stamina, strength, skill... goes on and on.
