Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

Can anyone remember what injury Foley had in his first season on the rookie list, near the end of the season I think he injured his knee badly but still played at Coburg from round 1 in the next season then made the senior side in the game when Brown was injured. I remember seeing him at an early Coburg game bandaged from thigh to ankle.
Was it a knee reconstruction, does anyone have any details.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

Watching the game over here last night with a few AFL fans from different clubs..
When Foley kicked the first goal there were plenty     around the room.

I was standing in applause as 'who is that?' came from a guy behind me.
When opposition supporters start saying that you know the kid has well and truly arrived.

Just awesome goals from a tremendously exciting player. :)

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

Terry yet again over-benched him.

Foley only played 3/4 of the game.

As his president last year I can assure you he has never shown signs of injury or fatigue that means he can't run out a whole game.

I don't understand what Terry is thinking (still)

Choo Choo Terry must have his eye on Kruezer, you think Buddy Franklin a freak wait till you see Kruezer.

Foley Gun, just give the other kids the same time.

HUGE season for Foley. Maybe not AA but certainly B&F by an absolute street. It sh!ts me that there are about 12 blokes that were out there tonight with far more "potential" but yet to show the same heart and desire as Foley. If every player on our team worked on their game as much as Foley does then we would be in the finals rather than talking about tanking.

why do they have more potential?

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

If I can join the dots and link his improvement in the last couple of years with the recent rah rah good news story which spoke of his dediction and work ethic then yes one of the junior players on our list has what it takes to be a professional AFL player. Now if he can just teach the process of his improvement to every other player his age and under then we will arrive as a club.

Gotta love players who come through the rookie system, they don't leave anything to chance because they know they could get axed at any time and they will have limited opportunity. No golden spoons.

I do....starts with a T and ends with a K.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

know it's a little off topic but watched the Kangas game today and loved Harris's work.

Kept thinking about the talk a couple of years ago about a possible deal to swap Krak for Harris.

Loved to have seen a midfield with hard nuts like Foley, Harris, Tuck, Coughlan, Hurn (yes, we should have taken him instead of JON) and even the younger ones who show courage and a willingnesss to get their hands dirty like Jackson, King, Connors and Edwards.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

does any one know how long is left on foley contract?

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

I would think that he has raised an eye brow or two from the All-Aussie selectors. ;)

Would have to go close..
The number one clearance player in the comp and kicking goals like last night.
Who'd have thought Richmond might have the best inside mid in the AFL before this season started?
Stay tuned he might be destined for bigger honors than that.

I had a couple of Geelong supporters I know, say how impressed they were with number 41. When I told them he was from the Falcons & nobody wanted him & was a rookie listed player, their jaws nearly hit the ground. They were saying we have got an absolute steal if this was the case & certainly someone we could build a decent midfield around.

Has become the player we all thought Deledio would become. (Well me anyway)

Tagged by Luke Ball - pretty big compliment.

Still staggered he wasn't mentioned in prelim AA discussions during the bye rounds.

FOley only had 9 clearance last night :-[ damn hes out of form.

PS: One day, when Simmo is fully fit, he will have 25 clearances in a game.

Dunno about that. Foley's become so good at reading the opposition at the bounces that I think he'll be slow to adapt if we win a tap out.

How good were those goals? Just keeps adding strings to his bow.

From having massive question marks over his kicking he has become our best kick on the run. No-one on the list can execute kicking like Foley can when running flat out.

From having question marks over his pace he has become one of our fastest players when in possession.

Another lazy 8 clearences again and 21 possessions while being heavily tagged by Ball and spending only 73% of the game on the ground. Early days but best on-baller we've had since Knights.

Must be a massive chance for AA.

Big call but Foley will be captain in the very near future, has all the attributes of an AFL leader. The best thing Kane Johnson could do right now is hand over the reigns and focus on getting his own game sorted out.
