Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

Besides Richo I didnt think it was possible to love another man. N Foley is starting to make me nervous in that I think I may love another man. This is not good news on a personal front, but for the RFC it is brilliant. :D

GUN: N Foley. BnF N Foley

*Correction. I forgot Cogs.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

So now are we getting to the stage of saying "Who was on Foley?" rather than "Who was Foley on?"

Just love this bloke's work ethic and endeavour.
(One very proud Pres. ;D)

Imagine if "Bling" had one half of one quarter of one of Foley's nuts.

Your kidding Right , TTT.......................let's see , that's 1/2 x 1/4 = ?

Hold on , let's go with .5 x .25 = 0.125

Would that look something like this : Foley = 00

Bling = ..

Yeah , that looks about Right !

V is better than Red Bull.

Is that V as in VB , Beau ?

Scarce as Hen's teeth Mate . Have heard a rumour that the only place to find is at the Embassey in DC.
Some High-Fallootin' friends have sampled a drop there so they tell me.

V is better than Red Bull.

Probably can't get V in the US though...

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

Nah, V as in energy drink.

VB (and all beer, really) is pretty much rubbish IMHO. ;D

HUGE season for Foley. Maybe not AA but certainly B&F by an absolute street. It sh!ts me that there are about 12 blokes that were out there tonight with far more "potential" but yet to show the same heart and desire as Foley. If every player on our team worked on their game as much as Foley does then we would be in the finals rather than talking about tanking.

Bulldust!! Wouldn't be 12 players in the league with more potential than Nathan. I'd like to see the plethora of players who can

(a) read the ball and get to it before anyone else;
(b) Have magicaly clean hands with the heat on
(c) find a way to get either himself or the ball out of traffic under extreme pressure;
(b) pick the best option and hit it by hand or foot;

and (e) to (z) find the pill at will, be number 1 in clearances and top 10 in most other midfield categories, burn off opponents with disdain and kick goals from 50 (I wonder where are all the he's slow - cant kick Cassandras are now???)

Credit to Nathan - works hard - got rid of the puppy fat this year and works at improving his game like a pro - but he had the raw materials as an out of the box pure football talent - really hard to teach vision and instinct - add desire, skill and speed to that and you have Nathan Foley

All the people who thought he was slow and couldn't kick are probably still in their jobs as AFL recruiters. He wasn't thought to have enough potential to be selected in the best 75 players for his age in the 2003 draft. To say that Foley is a "pure football talent" ahead of the likes of Polack, Tambling, Deledio, Brown, Richo et al is ridiculous. Foley has realised far more of his potential than just about any other player on our list.

The reason he picks the best option and is so good with his hands is through practice and conditioning, not because he was born with more latent talent than the likes of Lids and Tambling.

Ooops , sorry 'bout that , showing my age no doubt.

Never heard of V energy drink , God knows though they have every other one on the Planet , that must be an Aussie Original.

The only one who in your list who is in Foley's class is Brown - pure football talent.

Polak great hands and nice mover - talented but can stil get lost in the game and loses concentration from time to time.

Richo is a mega athlete who is a great contested mark and is ordinary below his knees poor with handball and has low footy smarts.

Lids in an ahelete first with great skills ( which you say are developed) who is not in Foley's class for instinct or vision.

Tambling instinctual and could be anything but hasn't proved to be as good as Foley yet.

You seem to confuse athleticism with football talent. A footballer knows how to find the ball, how to use it and generally have the smarts and vision to positively impact the game at contest after contest. They seem born to the game - in tennis see Federer for pure talent.

Foley is a pure football talent and it was (should have been) obvious he was a freak very early on in his AFL career.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

And he was not a high draft pick. Whilst losing games to get high picks supposedly gives you a better chance of securing a gun player, there are still plenty that slip down the order who can be just as good, if not better.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

Add voice to those great goals & assist goals he did last night. Pure class. Keep up the great work.

One thing I did notice different in his approach to the game is that he deosn't bounce the ball as soon as he has it, just sprints & breaks away quicker now! He is adapting & changing for improving his game which is great !

There is no doubt in my mind he is leading RFC's B&F & I hope a few players learn from his committment. I can't wait to see a fit Cogs play along side him.

Re: The Foley goals tonight were magnificent!

My St Kilda friends at the game hadn't seen Nathan before and were quite amazed at his ability. Those two quick gets in a row from the centre were something else to see. With more game experience he will be sensational (even though we know that already)
