Probably mentioned before, but Axel was leading the AFL for centre clearances going into this round. Now that is beating established guns like West, Kerr, Kirk, Harris. Great effort by Axel :clap

It's good to win the centre clearances but Nathan doesn't exactly close his man down. I'd say players like West and Kerr were very damaging against us. West had 13 contested possessions to Nathan's 7. Nathan also had 6 clangers and 4 frees against to West's 3 and 0 as well as less possessions overall. I love his endevour and attitude and love to see a kid backing himself but I'd like him to show his opponent a bit more respect too.

I think he played on Tyson Edwards Friday night so a clear victory there. Not sure if he played on Kerr. Scott West has been a very good player for a long time.

Re: Nathan Foley has the heart of a lion.

lets hope he isnt snatched from under our noses at seasons end.... ;)

Re: Nathan Foley has the heart of a lion.

Axel is running a lot harder when the other side's got the ball these days. Last season he pretty much had no idea who his opponent was but that's changed these days.

Did have Edwards at least for spells on Friday night and although neither played tight, Foley worked hard to chase Adelaide's mids down when they got on the burst. Huge improvement in this area IMO.

Late in the Footscray game I noticed West picked Foley up off the deck after a bit of a barney. And West spent time shaking his hand and shooting the breeze with him after the final siren. You get the impression that West can see a bit of himself in Foley. Nathan Foley earned the respect of his opponent on the night. How many Tiger players can say that?

This bloke keeps improving which is the main thing IMO.

Foley's heart cannot be questioned and that is great, however the sad thing about this thread in my eyes is that we are applauding the courage and efforts of a particular player when in reality his effort is what supporters and coach should expect from ALL players each week.

Using the best team as an example, the majority of West Coast players show the desire of Foley every week. He is not doing above and beyond what is expected, it is just that the majority of his team mates are not showing his desire which makes him stand out like dog knackers.... sad indeed.

yes but it is easssy for the wc eagles to do it they are a winning team full of cofidence. axel is doin a great job and is a future leader

Re: Nathan Foley has the heart of a lion.

Foley would be favourite for the Brownlow if only he didnt wear Yellow and Black.

0 and 8 doesnt come into it, only the guernsey he wears.

He did (as well as Priddis later in the game) and he has (and still is).

Big call....

Re: Nathan Foley has the heart of a lion.

Foley struggled a bit last night. All I could put it down to was that he was getting blocked at the stoppages.

He had Peverill for a while and Watson later.

What else was happening?

Re: Nathan Foley has the heart of a lion.

I think Richo stole Phar Lap's heart.

But I reckon Foley might have the Diva's...!

Whatever heart Foley has is dwarfed by Richo's.

Apparently Richo has his own team this week. Check out who Axel is playing for according to SportsBet.

Mabey Richo could give his old heart to Pettifer, think there would be plenty of room in there
:duh

Nathan Foley

great player in and under type player whos emergerd as a new speed with the quickest hands ever! :clap
what do you think?

Re: Nathan Foley

Made a few more mistakes than usual last night, but agree, is a great in and under player, the likes we have lacked since Cogs was on fire.

Re: Nathan Foley

i see one mistake from him last night.... one kick that went to oppsition other than that i thought he kicked pretty good ( i may have missed a few tho but i dont think there was many) and tigers gone north we have got many players with skill why dont u be positive

Re: Nathan Foley

Love this guy, but just wish he would take a few steps before bouncing the bloody ball. At one stage last night he bounced it twice in the space of about 5 metres. Will never be a chance of running too far at this rate. Biggest Improver I have seen in a long time though.

You think we have players with skill versus the competition average? I'm very happy to be positive when it's justified. Maybe you should be realistic?

Re: Nathan Foley

Would be so much better if he didnt bounce it it so much unnecessarily. :-\

It takes his eyes off the targets up the field.
