Nankervis !!

It's an ankle sprain. You need some sort of extreme rotation to cause it, like falling with your foot planted and putting your weight through the joint or an impact like someone sliding into your leg while the foot is stuck. There's no possibility of it without a traumatic event.
If Nank was feeling something in that ankle and just thought "nuh should be right to play", and then some action finally caused the injury, shouldn't that be known by the conditioning team (i.e. risk of playing)

That’s a bit disingenuous re Lynch because as you would know, having a plantar fascia release de-stabilises the foot to some degree.

I had to consider it myself on both feet, and after talking to AFL Doctors and surgeons, decided against it for that fact.
Yours was misdiagnosed gout.

Be very, very unlikely. It could potentially be mistaken for a low ankle strain, which could be played through with strapping and pain relief but even on a minor injury the pain and discomfort would be significant and the player would need a lot of support to play.

These days that would be sent straight for a scan and found straight away which would be the end of any thought of playing. The reason you hear syndesmosis so much now is we have the technology to identify it, whereas in days gone by it would have been 'sprained ankle' and the potential to try and manage to play was much higher.

Am I happy he’s injured? No, it must be wholly frustrating for him and I sympathise.

Are we potentially a better team without him? Yes.

Does his absence provide opportunity for growth? Absolutely.

I feel this way as well. We need to be able to use our ruckman to be able to push forward as well. Will force us to learn a new trick or two.

In that case perhaps we should dump Jaaack n Cotch n Grub n Dusty n Flossy n Prestygiocomo n Foosh n KMac. Get rid of all the tired old farts just bobbling along n re energise with all our kids just like Hawforn are doing. Massive growth opportunity.

Bontempelli is a 5 clearance player. A bit like Taranto. He got 11 against us on Satdee. 7 in the first 35 minutes of the game. The seventh was when, in a CB set play, English slapped it clean to him and Bont flicked to a running team mate.

Samson went into the ruck and touched the ball at CB. IKR? Rout over.

Nankervis can be routed. Norfs ran the same set play on him twice in the same game last year including for the winning goal. He's not a liability in the main because he counterpunches. But he's always vulnerable to an actual ruck. Even the lowly English.

If Nank was our only injury as at R4 2023 we'd be ok. Especially with Soldo out because it forces us to develop alternatives.

Ryan must play. Cannot get a ruck contest at VFA level. He toys with them. And Miller is almost AFL level.

With two of our best three players in Lynch and Prestia out it puts a lot of pressure on. That's good.

Idiotic take.

My sentiments also Jack

The thing is, Carts, we could test everybody else and still find we need Nank later in the year. And next year. I wouldn’t pension him off yet.

That’s not to say that Ryan won’t pass him. It’s a matter of when.

Indeed. No guarantees around Ryan.

The talk about Nank being managed in his preparation could be related to the PCL injury he suffered last year.

Burge totally called it last year, TT.

That said, Nank has looked free in movement and fresh in 2023.

On Nank's R4 game, I have been a qualified English fan for a couple of years now but I hadn't factored his being a toff in the damp. He outclassed Nank on the weekend.

Nank was injured but. When was that?

Yea sounds strange but I’m not all that fussed , heck coll became a better side sans Grundy and he’s twice the player , I feel nank s impact has dimmed some , doesnt take as many marks as he once did and his tap work has always been average at best . Good luck to him but I’m confident miller and Ryan will fill in admirably
