Nankervis !!

Surely the new smart brains in coaching will laugh even mock Dimma to play 'The Velvet Hammer'...

I agree Nanny plays round 1 and at the end of the year we delist hammer.

Yep, we didn't go out and get a ruckman to play in the vfl. If Hampy was so good ( and had Maric as the alleged "insurance") then why would we bother getting another ruck?

There is a really complex answer to this conundrum. Maric is 30, Hammer 28 and we have traded Vickery, cut McBean. Nank 22.

BTW, you do realise Nank played about 13 NEAFL games in 2016, don't you?

Yep, sort of puts your Hampson love into context eh?

What context - that of your monomania again? No, Lamby, trying to be very kind here. It's just that you get way ahead of yourself, then actually believe your own opinions as if they are facts.

ATM, how many games has Nank actually played for RFC? That's a fact. Calm down; you're very excitable and go off prematurely (the Bean was an absolute template there - proven and documented, sadly). To explain the other fact, the Swans only saw fit to play Nank at the equivalent VFL level mostly this year which is a much weaker comp than in Victoria. Does that indicate he's the full No.1 ruck just now? Probably has plenty of development to come. He's not another Messiah, Lamby. Stop thinking he is - all over again.
This is reminding me of all the Yarran bluster on PRE a year ago. Fans were optimistic about Townsend and AMoore too.

I'm very happy with the acquisition of Nank; supported it from way back because of reasons already posted. Yet, 2017 is a long way away yet. Injuries can change everything for a club and players. Nank will have to earn his place; Hammer is our current No.1 ruckman and expect them often both to play.

Agree hammer finished 2016 as our no.1 ruck, anyone who watched the swans vs crows final (obviously RFC recruiters) can confirm this bloke can run, mark and kick, he's light years ahead of hammer and only 22.... now, whether we play him is another question....

We can play a proven AFL finals performer in Nankervis or a proven VFL plodder in Hampson in rd 1 next year.

It's anyone's guess what Hardwick might do?

Yep, 28 & 30 isn't old for ruckmen but I'm not sure of the relevance of Nankervis 13 neafl games.

Besides Sandilands, who cant get on the park, can you name one No1 ruck who is 30+?

Should have put Hampson up for trade as soon as we secured Nankers.

Would like to see 'Nackers' get a historic ruckman number: 15 (the Whale) or 25 (the Swampfox).

Sadly both these great Tigers are no longer with us but it would be good to see one of their numbers rolling over the opposition rucks in 2017.

Fit and in form, surely Nankervis is a better option than Hampson to take the opening bounce in round one against Carlton next year.

Its relevance is in response to what you posted - "Yep, we didn't go out and get a ruckman to play in the vfl."

Given that Nank played most of his games in the NEAFL, the NSW equivalent but weaker grade. So he was regarded as mostly a VFL player by the Swans ATM in 2016. However, I certainly like the way he did step up when he got his opportunities later in the season, including in finals games.

No doubt. That one final was enough for anyone to see he is the next BIG THING; an unparalleled combo of Polly Farmer (Lamby salivating here) /Carl Ditterich/Goldstein/Dean Cox and Shane Mumford. Good possie number - 15 - at 46.7% DE, 4 CLG, 16 HOs and AF of 57.

Phenomenal stuff. I'm convinced ... a game like that. Phworr! Light years ....

It's not too late; we could still just delist him. For that matter - Maric and Soldo too. All list-cloggers now we've got Nank. Who needs 'em!

He looks as nippy as Dale Weightman compared to Hampson.

Given Dale has just turned 57, you'd hope he'd be at least a touch more nippy.

Never said he was the next Polly or any of those, we are comparing him with a bloke that would be lucky to get 15 possies in a month...

Your confusing Leon as you compare him with huge names as a joke, because i said he was good in the final, and then you write below...

"However, I certainly like the way he did step up when he got his opportunities later in the season, including in finals games."

About as considtent as the great man himself
