Nankervis !!

Nanny should be a walk up start.

With Hampson rucking we lost clearances 8 out of our last 10 games. Conversely with Hampson out and Ivan in our VFL team won their last 6 straight.

We need an Ivvy replacement and 'the goat" is the right fit.

2 in the last three games, hence the point about finishing the season.

I just saw that the Hampster had the 5th most hitouts in the AFL in 2016. Not bad for a supposed numpty

If he's going to play as badly as he does, he need to be 1st in the AFL for hitouts.

Even then, I wouldn't play him.

I suspect this argument will be a moot one not long into next season. Hampson somehow managed to stay out on the park for a full season, more or less, without sustaining a serious injury for the first time in his career. If he stays fit for two seasons in a row it will be a miracle.

Nankervis has a gilt-edged opportunity here.

We've played worse. His field work got better. Started clunking some marks. Dunno. But he's not as bad as people make out. If our midfielders could read his taps we'd win a lot more clearances

They are already working on it.

Here is some tape of Miles trying to understand Hammer's ruck technique.

LOL.

It is strangely satisfying to watch his powerful boundary tapins that go straight back over the boundary. Especially when all the midfielders are behind him.

Yep, I get the same macabre jollies.

Hammer does get good air. You will see him soar and basically able to pick his spot. It's at this point you realise he has a few tigers clear in one direction and Hammer just plonks it in the other direction often straight down the opponents throat.

As Harry Who used to say. Amazin'

Being that Toby is a replacement for Eeevahn in style and temperament, Ima call him Nankovich.

Weird Al?

I'll respect the collective decision, but Im gonna stick with Nankers.

Im excited about this bloke. Was speaking to a swan on friday night was a bit dumbfounded at his departure.

his age gives us something that Elbows Stafford, Strawbs, Simmo, Evarn and Hammer could never give.

Like your mum driving her thumb all the way to the sole under the toe of new school shoes when your 14.

Stan Stafford did have his moments up forward. Elbows and all.

Once again confusing yourself with the RFC selection team. Then a statistical correlation between two different rucks playing at widely different levels as if the No.1 ruckman explained their results totally. How you fool people with errant nonsense like this really amuses me. So your logical extension must surely be to have kept playing Maric at AFL instead of Hampson? Then we would have won many more games. So why did we even need to obtain Nankervis? We have Eevan still.

But it hasn't occurred to you that Hampson and Nank could possibly play together? Like Nankervis was often the solo or No.1 ruck at the Swans, right? That as a 22 year old, he is still learning his craft and needs more experience, but hopefully will carry the ruck at RFC in the future years. That it may place Griffiths' role under pressure too, although I'm hoping he will get to play far more as a KPF. But if he doesn't find consistency, that a Hampson/Nankervis combination may play and no Griff, or to match certain opponents?

So whose the goat?

I think we'll play both Hammer and Nankovich. I wouldn't, but I think we will. One of them to be the anchor tall forward to allow Jack freedom and let Griffens play HFF. (Griffens is our second-quickest forward, after Rioli).

A more astute post. Yes, if you're right about Griff's speed, it's interesting. He moves faster than it looks I think. Covers the ground. Dyer'ere's post is also the key with Griff - just how much the concussions have affected him.

Hampson will have to earn a game..

Yep, we didn't go out and get a ruckman to play in the vfl. If Hampy was so good ( and had Maric as the alleged "insurance") then why would we bother getting another ruck?
